  • Couples Retreat

"My husband & I booked the Lotus Lake House for an intimate, private, secluded weekend retreat. We found the directions very easy to follow and we’re very happy to see the house as pictured from the website. We were looking forward to the glass walls to enjoy the rain & evening sky, the privacy from other people and a place beautiful to want to stay in all weekend. Although it is secluded, it was not as private as we anticipated. We noticed people camping about 150 feet up from the house and you can also see another “house” from the side of the Lake House. We didn’t feel it was an issue with the “house” as we could not see any noticeable windows. As for the campers, we did feel as if we were in a fishbowl since the front of the house is glass walls and a clear view to the campers. We kept wondering if they were watching us (slightly creepy). I am unsure if they are allowed to camp or not, but it did give us an uneasy feeling since we had not read anything about campers in the guest book. We also did not contact the owner since we were there for just the weekend and felt it probably wouldn’t make much of a difference. Although it was creepy, we went on with our rainy weekend. We took advantage of watching some movies the owner had, but we would suggest bringing your own, as it is slightly limited. We realize the owner does not carry an extensive collection due to all the nature, but we were rained in, wanted to cuddle up, enjoy the rain, and watch a movie with some popcorn. We really enjoyed our intimate weekend. We found the Lotus Lake House had everything we needed. A few recommendations: 1. Read the guest book first. Many questions can be answered in it. 2. Bring an IPod adapter for IPhone to use for music (for the owner I would suggest having one at the house). 3. If you are allergic to dogs, the Lake House is probably not for you. It is a dog friendly property- inside & out. Immediately after opening the front door you can smell a strong odor of dog (smelled a mix between wet/ unwashed dogs). (For the owner we would recommend an air fresher to reduce the odor). 4. The bed is firm- we had read this in prior reviews, but felt that firm could mean something different to each person. For us, it was too firm, so be prepared if you enjoy pillow tops mattresses. 5. The frig is on the smaller side, so plan accordingly. We would recommend this house to anyone looking for a couple’s retreat .We would not recommend a group, as the house is l"

  • Great home away from home!

"My family and I came to Murphys for a family wedding and stayed at La Villeta for 4 nights and enjoyed each day we spent. It was very comfortable with enough beds for everyone and the view is amazing!!! It made our long trip well worth it. Rebecca and Gary are very friendly and a joy to meet. They respected our privacy and made us feel right at home."

  • Clean, Spacious and Dog Friendly!

"My boyfriend and I had a wonderful weekend with our pups at this condo. It is an upstairs downstairs unit with the bedrooms downstairs. All our snow gear got to stay downstairs so relaxing by the fire at night and watching a movie upstairs was like being in your own living room. The kitchen had everything you need for a nice dinner in-- including a BBQ on the patio. The neighborhood is dog friendly with a great hiking trail close by and a bike/walker's path to the village as well. The owners are attentive and easy to reach if needed. My only wish would have been for a jacuzzi after a long day of snowboarding. But, the bathtub sufficed. Thank you! We'll be back!!"

  • Amazing weekend at Lake Wildwood

"We just spent an amazing weekend at Lake Wildwood. It was our family of 5 with another family of 4. The house had plenty of space for us to enjoy each other and at the same time have enough space for a quiet nap elsewhere in the house. Your house is beautiful and the views of the lake from the dining room and bedroom and kitchen are amazing. We really enjoyed our stay. We were there in January and even though the early mornings and late evenings were brisk the weather was otherwise perfect. We hiked the trail nearby and watched the sunset over the lake. This was a first time in the area so we explored the wine tasting, and Nevada City, which were both interesting and fun. And we even got one day of skiing in! We highly recommend this house and look forward to coming back again soon!"
