  • Family Get Away

"As others have mentioned, two days wasn't long enough to enjoy the house and the grounds. Everything about this house is inviting, and warm. There are so many little areas to explore, and look at. The owners have definitely put a lot of thought into the decoration. The kitchen is really well stocked. I even found a popcorn maker for our last evening there. We had hot chocolate and popcorn by the outdoor bar area, right by the creek. It was magical. We found all the plugs to light the Christmas lights, which takes a little bit of searching, but is well worth the effort. The koi fish were a fun form of entertainment. The upstairs game room is well stocked. Any child would enjoy the kids room with bunk beds, books, DVDs, toys."

  • Serene cabin in the hills

"This was our second trip to this cabin, and have loved it each time. The porch at night is great - you can see lots of stars and the owner even puts out a bed so that you can lay outside underneath them. Owner is very friendly. Can't wait to go back."

  • A Very Special Place

"Needed to escape for the weekend, and chose Walker's Cabin as our destination. We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice! The cabin is so cozy, with all the comforts of home...and then some. We hiked the property trails, soaked in the tub beneath the stars and awoke every morning to turkeys and deer. Valeri, you have a gem here! Thank you so much for sharing your piece of heaven! Will be our first choice when we return to the Gold Country. Steve & Cyndi"

  • Our Week at the Deck House

"This was our second year staying at the Gold Country Deck house for a week. We love it! It is a comfortable, well equipped house with a wonderful outdoor deck and views to die for. We watch the deer in the morning and at dusk. The owners are so nice and communication is excellent. We will be returning again!"

Placerville Travel Tips

Placerville Vacation Rentals Are Close to Everything

Placerville is located at the foot of the Sierra Mountains, about an hour east of Sacramento. From most Placerville lodging, a quick drive will get you to Apple Hill—also known as El Dorado Orchards—a collection of apple farms where you can sample fresh made cider, purchase handmade crafts, and even pick your own ripe apples right off the tree. Less than an hour away is the Sierra Tahoe Ski Resort for skiers and snowboarders who want to hit the slopes and then come home to a Placerville vacation rental below the snowfall. A few minutes away is the Red Hawk Casino for travelers who like to gamble, and also nearby is American River rafting. You can rent a raft big enough for a group of friends or a family and float the green river at your leisure.

Experience Gold Fever with Placerville Vacation Rentals

Come visit the place where gold was discovered. Close to your Placerville vacation rental, Marshal Gold Discovery State Historic Park provides hours of fun. Wander their museum and check out the volunteers dressed in period costumes. You can buy a gold pan and test your luck searching for nuggets in the river bed just like the settlers did in the 1800s. Fool’s gold is a more common find—but still a fun one, especially for kids. Gold Bug Park and Mine in Placerville—the only open to the public gold mine in the state—is another place to fulfill your gold cravings. Bring the kids for a picnic, a hike, and some California history.

Eat Well in Placerville

Visitors staying in Gold Country High Sierra cabins still need a place to order good food. Try breakfast or brunch at Sweetie Pie’s, a small local favorite, and try Old Town Grill or Cafe Luna for later day meals that are also highly-rated.
