  • Excellent experience

"I recently (January 2015) spent a weekend at the River Villa to celebrate my 30th birthday with several friends. From the first inquiry to our final exchange, the property manager, Robin, was an absolute pleasure to deal with. I had a couple of last minute cancellations/additions to my guest list that I was worried might complicate the booking process but Robin made the entire process as simple and painless as possible. Once we arrived we saw that she also left a nice welcome note with a home baked loaf of bread which we enjoyed with our dinner the first night. The cabin itself is as advertised: 3 queen bedrooms on the ground floor and the large loft upstairs. The loft was definitely decorated with a kids' space in mind which makes this a perfect family vacation rental, but the large living area and patio/yard works just as well for a group of adults/buddies looking for a getaway. There are large windows on all sides in the living room (as well as double sliding glass doors) which gives the cabin plenty of natural light during the day and a great view of the night sky without having to leave the warmth of the fire. The area just outside the living room is amazing and we ended up spending most of our time at the cabin here. The river is literally right outside with about 30 ft of space filled with seating, bbqs and horseshoes in between it and the sliding doors. The views of the mountains during the day and the countless stars at night kept us coming back outside even when it got colder at night. If you are planning on going into Sequoia National Park I can't imagine you can stay much closer. We made it to the entrance in less than 5 minutes (although it is worth noting that it is still 30 minutes - an hour from the park entrance to all of the big trees/waterfalls/etc). The only caveat I have is that the property was advertised as being on 14 acres which led me to assume it was completely private. There are neighbors adjacent to the cabin as well as across the river that seem to be quite a bit closer than 14 acres. I'm willing to bet that there are indeed 14 acres on the plot of land, but the cabin isn't right in the middle of that 14 acres which is what I had imagined. With all of that said though, the property still provides an ample amount of privacy and private access to the river which I'm sure would be even more exciting in warmer months. All in all, we had a great experience and plan to return hopefully sooner than later."

  • Wonderful property!

"We absolutely loved our stay! This home has the most amazing view that even these photos don't do it justice. Mary was incredibly helpful and nice, and we really appreciated finding cookies, jam and a tray of assorted nuts/chocolates upon our arrival. The back porch was perfect to sit and eat, or just stare at the views and wildlife. We enjoyed the quick drive into Sequoia and the quaint little town. I saw a golf course within a mile of the home and it had great rates, but I didn't bring my clubs. The home is stocked with tons of towels and linens, and had plenty of games and movies for our evenings with the kids. The pool was great and we had fun going for a dip. I would absolutely recommend this property to everyone. We were a family of 4; a couple with 2 kids ages 10 and 14. We didn't even use the third bedroom but it too had wonderful views and was large. The king bedroom was great with amazing views and a large jacuzzi tub for 2. We will be back! Thank you Mary!"
