"Beautiful home in the mountains, as exactly as described. Make sure you take the time to watch out the window of the blue bedroom. There is a bird bath that the rabbits will come down to visit. We enjoyed watching the larger rabbit with the spot out of his left ear. Lots of birds to watch. Stars are amazing if you enjoy the night star! We saw a few falling stars. Easy access to both parks. Make sure you stop for groceries before arriving at the property."

  • Home away from home!

"We had an amazing time during our stay in Ponderosa! Our days were spent touring the beautiful, scenic hikes that are only minutes away from the cabin; then we’d come back to a cozy, clean cabin that felt like coming” home”, even though it was only for a few days :) The cabin was well stocked and comfortable, and the kitchen had all the pots, pans and dishes we needed for all of our meals. This is the perfect place to take in a big dose of fresh, pine-scented mountain air and relax for a few days!"

House has everything you need and the owners really goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable, providing everything you need. The deck was a great outdoor space. Highly recommended!"

  • Great rental!

"My young daughter and I had a great experience while at this cabin. It was spacious, comfortable, and cozy. It had everything we needed to stay comfortable! The location was also perfect, and even the backyard and surrounding areas offered beautiful views, nice walks/hikes, including a swing. My daughter and I had a wonderful week of quiet time together and enjoyed evening walks to the nearby lodge for happy hour. I would 100% recommend this rental for any family!"

Sequoia, Kings Canyon Travel Tips

Year-Round Explorations at Sequoia and Kings Canyon Vacation Rentals

The parks are open all year long to visitors and each season brings its own range of attractions. The vast majority of visitors travel during the summer months of July and August. Be aware if you are planning traveling during peak season that the access roads can sometimes get congested, and the campsites and picnic sites can get very full. This is one of the reasons why staying in a vacation home is a great idea. You can still go exploring and sightseeing by day and in the evening, you can return to your own private cabin. In the spring, the valleys are covered with a mass of colorful wild flowers. The Sequoia trees are sometimes still covered with snow and the rivers are generally swift. Be cautious if going fishing as the currents in the rivers can be very strong.

By June, summer has generally set in with warm sunny days inviting exploration. Enjoy nature trails and guided walks where you can spot birds and other wildlife. Autumn is a great time to visit the parks. Not only are the fall colors magnificent but the park is also generally less crowded. Some of the sites such as the Crystal Cave close in late October so make sure that you travel before then. In the winter months, the region generally receives heavy snowfalls. Some of the campsites remain open and rangers offer guided snowshoe walks through the park. If you enjoy the tranquility of wintertime, this is the season for you to visit.

Visitors to Sequoia and Kings Canyon Cabins

Sequoia and Kings Canyon are two parks that are great to explore with the family. At both parks, you will find information centers where you can arrange guided ranger hikes and attend informative talks and film presentations. There are extensive wildlife viewing opportunities and visitors must be aware of the dangers that larger animals, such as bear, pose. If you are at a picnic site, do not lay the food out in the open as it could attract wild animals. One of the greatest attractions is the General Sherman Tree reported to be the largest single-trunk tree in the world. Nearby is the Giant Forest Museum where you can learn more about the natural habitat of the area. There are also the Crystal Caves which are generally only open during the summer months.

Finding Your Way to Sequoia and Kings Canyon Lodging

Sequoia and Kings Canyon are two adjacent State Parks located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. The parks are within an easy day's drive from Los Angeles, Sacramento, Oakland or San Francisco. Allow for between three to five hours for the drive. There are no buses or train routes to the parks. If traveling from further afield, the nearest airport is the Fresno Yosemite International Airport. From there, you can rent a car and drive the remaining 60 or so miles to the park entrance.
