  • Perfect Cabin in the Woods

"This cabin was perfect for our family of four on vacation to Yosemite. It has a great kitchen and a nice hot wood burning stove to keep you warm at night. The creek was running swiftly and there were birds all around. There were also a few mosquitos but that is the price you pay for being by the water. Highly recommend this great value."

  • Everything you could want, and more!

"We had the most amazing time at this cabin. It has every amenity you could possibly want. It slept our group of 6 comfortably and could definitely accommodate more. The cub's den was my favorite aspect. We used the spa and BBQ and both worked perfectly. Plenty of towels, linens, kitchen items, etc... The location is far from town, but a good central location from the South gate and yosemite valley. I would return to cub's cabin in a heartbeat and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to a friend!"

  • Wonderful time!

"My husband and I stayed 3 nights at Creekside and really enjoyed our time there. The cabin is spacious, beautiful, and had everything you might need. It is as pictured in the listing. The cabin was clean and well-maintained. Loved all the windows and natural light coming in. You can even lie in bed and look up and see the stars at night. Even though the creek was dry, the area behind the cabin gave you the feeling of being secluded. We enjoyed our daily sightings of the Stellar Jays and squirrels. Loved the huge deck. It was convenient to our daily trip to Yosemite and close enough to Oakhurst for supplies. Rick was helpful in recommending a good place for groceries. The cabin has a basket filled with all the information you might need to explore the area. I cant imagine anything that could add to this cabin. It even had free Wi-Fi. Thanks Rick and Christine for allowing us to have this wonderful cabin to stay in during our trip to Yosemite!"

  • Just as represented plus tips for visitors

"It was wonderful to have so much space, the terrific view off the deck and the amenities, although this is an older home. Tips for travelers: read rental car instructions so you know how to downshift BEFORE driving in the mountains. If coming from San Francisco, we highly recommend the last full service grocery, Raley's in Oakdale, CA which has coolers, a café for lunch and a Valero gas next door. The Village Store in the Valley has most options but at a much higher price, as is the gas at Wawona ($4.989 vs. $3.899 at Valero). There is a large stock of laundry, dish detergent and dishwasher soap on hand as of June 28, 2014 and the toilet paper is SINGLE ply due to septic. Two of the three bears we saw were in the subdivision so heed instructions. Our favorite trip was the hike to Sentinal Dome (two 60+ couch potatoes made it by taking our time), but wading in the South Fork of the Merced at Wawona Swinging Bridge was so much fun that we did it twice. Our daughters highly recommend Mountaineering School instructor Mark for the Anchors class and thought that a private instructor for Crag class would have been worth the extra if you are somewhat experienced. The hike to lower Vernal Falls is definitely moderate, NOT easy, as it is a non-stop 40 degree climb. Once again the couch potatoes made it by taking our time. All in all, a trip of a lifetime and we so enjoyed retreating from the noise and crowds of the Valley to this house each evening."

Yosemite Area Travel Tips

Incredible Scenery at Yosemite

One thing that Yosemite is known for is its beautiful scenery. Located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the landscape is characterized by majestic mountain peaks, cascading waterfalls and wide valleys. It is the perfect vacation destination for people who enjoy nature and appreciate beautiful scenery. Yosemite is also known for its abundant wildlife, in particular its bears. Visitors who enjoy wildlife viewing can explore the park daily and seek out animals to get some great wildlife photographs. Yosemite has some world-famous climbing crags that attract climbers from around the globe. It is also a popular National Park for hiking. There are trails suitable for both families and more experienced hikers. The valley has a paved biking trail that is ideal for sightseeing and gaining access to some of the more remote areas of the park. Bikes can be hired from various centers in the park.

Things to See and Do near Yosemite Cabins

Yosemite is famous for its incredible waterfalls. There are seven spectacular waterfalls within the park and a further four just outside of it. The Yosemite Falls are made of three smaller waterfalls known as the upper, middle and lower falls. In total, the waterfall has a drop of 2,425 feet, making it the fifth highest waterfall in the world. The Ribbon Falls cascade off the west side of El Capitan and have a drop of 1,612 feet. The Ribbon Falls is the tallest single waterfall in the United States. Other waterfalls include the beautiful Bridalveil Falls, so named because the wind often blows the waterfall, spreading out the water like a bridal veil. The Horsetail Falls is a seasonal waterfall than runs for several weeks in February off the eastern side of El Capitan. The background light from the sun lights up the waterfall in a spectacular way, making it look as though it’s on fire.

Yosemite’s rock formations provide excellent subjects for photographs, especially in the early morning or late afternoon sunlight. Some of the more famous landmarks include El Capitan which is a 7,569-foot granite peak that rises up from the valley floor. It is a challenging and well-known rock climbing face. Mt. Lyell is the tallest peak in the park and also home to the park’s only active glacier. The peak rises up to an impressive height of 13,114 feet. The Matterhorn peak is at an altitude of 12,264 feet and part of a series of peaks that make up the Sawtooth Ridge in the northeastern part of the park.

Best Time of Year to Visit Yosemite

Because of the extensive amount of trails and wildlife viewing opportunities, most people prefer to visit during the summer season. This is also the season when the waterfalls are at their most spectacular. The long summer days are ideal for exploring and enjoying your favorite outdoor activities. Yet summer is not the only season when it’s worth visiting Yosemite. The fall and winter months are particularly beautiful in the park. Snow occurs at higher altitudes and there is a ski resort at Badger Pass which has a number of ski runs. Cross country skiing is also available at Mariposa Grove.

Sierra Nevada Vacation Rentals in Yosemite

Yosemite is one of the major parks that has a number of resorts and private homes within its boundaries. This provides a wide variety of accommodation options for visitors. There are also several private homes located just outside the park which provide easy aces to the area's attractions. In general, the homes inside the park are smaller and cater for families of two to six people. Many have hot tubs which are ideal for soaking in while enjoying the mountain scenery.

Get away to the mountains and enjoy solitude and majestic beauty all around Yosemite cabins rented by owner.
