Recent Yosemite Area property reviews

  • Comfortable and cozy; nice for kids

"We stayed at the Cozy Bear Cottage in early May 2010. The home was comfortable and cozy, as the name suggests. A high chair and porta-crib were provided for our two-year-old, which was extremely convenient. A few toys were also available. The kitchen and dining area are small, but were more than adequate for our needs. The family room had a gas fireplace, satellite tv and a selection of movies. The bed was extremely comfortable! It was a convenient home base for our visit to Yosemite National Park."

  • Fun at Sugar Pine

"Sugar Pine Cabin was very comfortable and exactly as described on the listing. We felt right at home. The cabin was clean, the linens were nice; everything was very convenient. The owner was very friendly and easy to communicate with. The cabin is very close to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias in Yosemite National Park. Excellent restaurants in the area that were recommended by the owner. My family had a wonderful time at Sugar Pine Cabin. We enjoyed sitting on the back deck and taking in the fresh mountain air."

  • Can't wait to come back!

"This is a very special house in an amazing setting. It's not a modern 5* hotel experience with brand new appliances and all mod cons, so if that's what you want then this place is not for you. But if you want to chill out in a cosy, relaxed house that feels like a genuine home then you won't go wrong here. There are lots of things to do in the house: TV with satellite, board games and an excellent book collection if you are into climbing and adventure. But I hardly spent any time in the house because most of the time I was out on the huge deck, which is perfect for meals, reading, or simply relaxing and watching the deer and the changing light through the tree tops. I only used the downstairs bed, but it was fantastically comfortable. The shower pressure is great. To use the internet you need an Ethernet port on your laptop (no wireless) - I didn't have one but I liked being out of constant email contact for a few days! The house is easy to find (excellent directions from the owners). The last hill up to the house itself is pretty rocky and bumpy and will need a bit of attention quite soon but my rental Chevy made it up and down just fine. You don't need 4WD. It's close enough to Mariposa to pop into the town for supplies (Pioneer Market - take the Burger King turning and follow the road - or High Country Health food on the 49 just after the intersection with 140). High Country Health Food has a great cafe attached. The Happy Burger Diner has an enormous menu with vegan and vegetarian options (not the best food but it is cheap and filling), friendly staff, and free wifi. It's about an hour and a quarter into Yosemite Valley from the house, a really beautiful and easy drive. Yosemite is, of course, the most amazing, awe-inspiring place on earth (well, I think so anyway!). Heather and Steve were really easy to deal with and if you are into rock climbing, then you'll be thrilled to discover that they are serious world class climbers (check out Heather's extraordinary vertical dance troupe too!) with great tips for climbing in the area! Can't wait to return!"

  • August 2014 Family Vacation

"We had 10 people and the home was comfortable during the day and enough beds. There were kids in our group and they enjoyed the balcony, stairs, and hiding places. Our whole group marveled at the amount and type of kitchen amenities and sporting equipment. The home and grounds are clean and inviting. Suzann was way more helpful than other VRBO owners I've worked with. Her directions to the home are exact and without them you'll get lost. Overall, our experience was great. The older folks had some trouble with the amount of stairs. The area is quiet. It was warm in August and this was a bad year for water in the streams. Bass Lake has water but the levels are low and the water is muddy."
