  • Fun time

"Looks a little smaller than the photos upon arrival. However, there were 5 of us, and once we were there it was great! The faucet on the 2nd floor had a broken handle for the cold water, we called the helper and left a message and never heard back. My dad left the handle on the counter with a note as this had been missed before according to the guest book there. The loft was perfect for my kid. She loved it. The beds are very comfortable! The kitchen well equipped. Good secluded area. But still close enough to everything! Will definitely want to stay here again. Very clean!"

  • Cant' wait to go back!!!!

"We were absolutely thrilled when we arrived at the River House- because the photos on VRBO matched what the property really looked like, except even more spectacular in person!!! How often does that happen in a VRBO.... JoAnn helped us with scheduling, and was very kind to work with... We arrived and checked in with Harvey and he went out of his way to offer tips and advice about the local happenings, even though we are locals. There were 3 adults and our 10 year old- and we had a blast!! It was like a stay-cation for us, as we live nearby but it was a real treat!! The home was nicely appointed- with a real cabin feeling, comfortable furniture, books about the local surroundings, photos representing the history of the area! Weather was rainy and perfect for a wonderfully relaxing weekend, cozy fires, building lego set, daily walks, and perfect sized/equipped kitchen for cooking breakfast, with local dining at night. Thank you both Harvey and Joann- for sharing your wonderful place with us - our daughter enjoyed herself so much she had to leave her thoughts in the guests journal:)!! We will definitely stay again!"

  • Wonderfully perfect!

"We stayed for 5 days at Alpenglow. There were 6 adults and 4 kids...with PLENTY of room for all of us. A nice large living room to sit around the fire and play games, chat, or read. A den with a tv and games/books/movies for kids kept the noise away from the main living room. Beautiful deck, great space for kids to explore right outside the front and back doors. Kitchen had great appliances, bathrooms were well stocked and super clean. My mother had a broken knee cap and was in a full leg cast during the trip...and while the place is probably officially not handicap equipped...it actually worked out just fine for us. There is a walkway from the driveway up to the back door that does not require steps, just a gentle slope...so she was able to get in and out of the house just fine. There is a bedroom on the bottom floor with a king-sized bed and bathroom for those that might have mobility issues. Everything worked out great for her. The kids slept in every possible place because there were so many to choose from. Futons, beds, pull-out sofa sleeper, etc. They said each of them was plenty comfortable and they loved trying a new place each night. It was like an adventure for them to explore all the different options. We had all different weather while we were there...snow, sun, rain. The house was well controlled by the heater and insulation...we weren't too hot or too cold. Lots of blankets, sheets, towels, pillows...never lacked for anything to feel more comfortable. We highly recommend taking the short hike out to see Foresta Falls. And, if you find that you're just dying to use your cell phone...the reception on that hike is unusually good for the area. Better than within the Foresta housing area and the Valley floor, actually. Wifi at Alpenglow is slow (and the owners tell you that in advance)...but you shouldn't be there for computing anyways, right?! If you just have to post photos to Facebook...do it on the hike to foresta falls. The caretakers obviously love the house and put a great deal of effort to keep it nice for their visitors. The house was ready exactly at the time it was supposed to be for check-in...the instructions for check-out were easy to follow. We couldn't find anything wrong with the place. Seriously a wonderful time!"

  • Very nice apartment and great location!

"My husband and I and another couple stayed in the upstairs apartment, which has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. First of all, know that this is a very nice apartment and the location close to Glacier Point Road was truly appreciated. It was good to have such a place to stay in the park as we experienced some of the wonders of Yosemite with good friends. However, there are a few things just to keep in mind. 1) There are many steps inside as well as outside to get to the upstairs apartment. And, given the higher altitude, we older folks noticed it. 2) There is wi-fi, but it is very limited. Also, having cell-phone service in Yosemite should not be expected. 3) We did find backing our cars out of the driveway a little bit of a challenge because of it's layout and bushes along the edges. 4) On the afternoon of our arrival we wanted to talk to the owner for a couple of reasons, and my husband called phone numbers on the list provided. He left messages, but we never received a response. It was somewhat disconcerting to be unable to talk with the owner. Fortunately we managed on our own, with the help of many how-to instructions that were provided for various things. Again, a very nice apartment in a great locale."
