  • Location, comfortable and well-stocked house

"Loved this house. Great location in Foresta, easy driving distance to the valley and all hiking trails. Best part of the house is that it is well stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We are 2 families and it is perfect for us. I will return to this gem the next time I am in Yosemite."

  • Just as represented plus tips for visitors

"It was wonderful to have so much space, the terrific view off the deck and the amenities, although this is an older home. Tips for travelers: read rental car instructions so you know how to downshift BEFORE driving in the mountains. If coming from San Francisco, we highly recommend the last full service grocery, Raley's in Oakdale, CA which has coolers, a café for lunch and a Valero gas next door. The Village Store in the Valley has most options but at a much higher price, as is the gas at Wawona ($4.989 vs. $3.899 at Valero). There is a large stock of laundry, dish detergent and dishwasher soap on hand as of June 28, 2014 and the toilet paper is SINGLE ply due to septic. Two of the three bears we saw were in the subdivision so heed instructions. Our favorite trip was the hike to Sentinal Dome (two 60+ couch potatoes made it by taking our time), but wading in the South Fork of the Merced at Wawona Swinging Bridge was so much fun that we did it twice. Our daughters highly recommend Mountaineering School instructor Mark for the Anchors class and thought that a private instructor for Crag class would have been worth the extra if you are somewhat experienced. The hike to lower Vernal Falls is definitely moderate, NOT easy, as it is a non-stop 40 degree climb. Once again the couch potatoes made it by taking our time. All in all, a trip of a lifetime and we so enjoyed retreating from the noise and crowds of the Valley to this house each evening."

  • Pure Magic.

"Picture a place like this: An oasis with green grass, trees for shade, and rustic wooden tables and benches. Butterflies fluttering around fragrant lavender bushes that perfume the breeze. Whimsical wind chimes and dozens of hummingbirds flitting about. Resident dogs Loki and Mini playing in the grass and chasing lizards. A pleasant creek filled with little fish for the dogs to pounce on. Nightly bonfires with a cold beer and warm conversation. A luxurious hot tub and pool to relax in after a long day. Cozy cottage with a comfy bed and beautiful view, interesting books to capture the imagination, and all the necessary comforts of home. No expense spared on gorgeous fixtures and architectural design. All of the above describes the enchanted grounds and ambiance of Spinning Wheel, where the Crescent Cottage is nestled away from the activity of Yosemite. If it sounds like a fairytale come to life, that's because that's precisely what this place is. My husband and I stayed here for three days in the midst of a California road trip. Boy, we wish we had planned to stay longer. Spinning Wheel was a huge part of what made our time in Yosemite our favorite part of the trip. After hiking all day and exploring the beauty of the park, we relished coming home to our little cottage and the beautiful Spinning Wheel grounds. I've never seen anything like it, and I can't emphasize enough the pure MAGIC and specialness of this place. Owner Dharma and property manager Patrick were extremely friendly and inviting. They make you feel like family friends there for a visit. Extremely laid back and pleasant people. It's not a question of if but WHEN we will return to Spinning Wheel, and we are dying to bring friends because simply telling people about this place doesn't do it justice. Do yourself a favor and book yourself an extra day or two at Spinning Wheel. I have no doubt that this place will become as special to you as it is to me, and probably every guest who stays there. We can't wait to return."
