"I have stayed at other properties VRBO has offered and the owners were less than truthful about their accommodations. This house is exactly as the owners represented. It is a beautiful, comfortable home. The views are extraordinary. We stayed a week and went to Yosemite 6 days out of the 7, so close. One day we went to all the little towns around Coulterville. I spent many months looking for the perfect location for Yosemite, and I found this place. It exceeds all the other locations I searched. I would come back in a instant and have no reservations about recommending this place to anyone. Each inquiry I had was answered promptly. When we arrived we let the owners know we were there and I felt as if I had come home. Sincere honest concern for our stay was shown to us. You will not regret a stay at this location. Thank you again for opening up your home. We will never forget Donkey Lane."Guest: Mike F. Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: October 7, 2014View listing
"We stayed at Alpenglow Chalet 08/30/14-09/05/14. The house is beautifully designed and appointed; it met all our expectations. We were pleased that the house was very clean, furniture was comfortable, and linens were good quality. There are several bookcases throughout the house, with a good choice of reading. There are children's books and family board games in the den. The kitchen was well stocked with all needed cook ware. As there were only three of us in our group, we decided to eat breakfast in, pack lunches for daily hikes, and have dinners in Yosemite Village. The house is so lovely and inviting, it was sometimes hard to leave it in the morning to explore the park. Groceries in Yosemite Village are expensive, so if possible, plan your menus and grocery shop before you arrive. Deer are easily seen from the house. We spotted a bear across the carport once (around 6:00 PM). He paused for a few moments then raced away. Another time, a bobcat crossed in front of our car as we were leaving the neighborhood. It's about a 30 min scenic drive into Yosemite Village; speed limits are 20-35 mph. And it was about an hour drive to the Wawona area, which is an area in the southern part of the park. Based on our experience, we highly recommend Alpenglow Chalet."Guest: USNA2003 Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: September 13, 2014View listing
"This was definitely a warm welcoming cabin with every necessity items of your everyday living. The front porch was a definite great spot to hang out, with a short walk to the village. The owners are definitely a phone call away if needed and so prompt in answering your questions. We will definitely recommend highly for your family!!"Guest: Stephanie C. "We stayed in Susan's cabin two nights for our first Yosemite trip. This house is very cozy and clean. The environment was very unique. We have stayed in many cabin in the wood, and this one is truely in the forest and you will definitely get 100% privacy. The cabin is well stocked with everything we need during our stay. The cabin is conveniently located in between the mariposa grove and yosemite valley, and it's inside Yosemite national park. Owner Susan was very nice and patient to answer all of our questions and concern. We would highly recommend this cabin."Guest: Sam C. Things to See and Do near Yosemite Cabins
Yosemite is famous for its incredible waterfalls. There are seven spectacular waterfalls within the park and a further four just outside of it. The Yosemite Falls are made of three smaller waterfalls known as the upper, middle and lower falls. In total, the waterfall has a drop of 2,425 feet, making it the fifth highest waterfall in the world. The Ribbon Falls cascade off the west side of El Capitan and have a drop of 1,612 feet. The Ribbon Falls is the tallest single waterfall in the United States. Other waterfalls include the beautiful Bridalveil Falls, so named because the wind often blows the waterfall, spreading out the water like a bridal veil. The Horsetail Falls is a seasonal waterfall than runs for several weeks in February off the eastern side of El Capitan. The background light from the sun lights up the waterfall in a spectacular way, making it look as though it’s on fire.
Yosemite’s rock formations provide excellent subjects for photographs, especially in the early morning or late afternoon sunlight. Some of the more famous landmarks include El Capitan which is a 7,569-foot granite peak that rises up from the valley floor. It is a challenging and well-known rock climbing face. Mt. Lyell is the tallest peak in the park and also home to the park’s only active glacier. The peak rises up to an impressive height of 13,114 feet. The Matterhorn peak is at an altitude of 12,264 feet and part of a series of peaks that make up the Sawtooth Ridge in the northeastern part of the park.
Best Time of Year to Visit Yosemite
Because of the extensive amount of trails and wildlife viewing opportunities, most people prefer to visit during the summer season. This is also the season when the waterfalls are at their most spectacular. The long summer days are ideal for exploring and enjoying your favorite outdoor activities. Yet summer is not the only season when it’s worth visiting Yosemite. The fall and winter months are particularly beautiful in the park. Snow occurs at higher altitudes and there is a ski resort at Badger Pass which has a number of ski runs. Cross country skiing is also available at Mariposa Grove.
