"We had a very nice time at the house. Very comfortable, spacious and well maintained home. The location is perfect - beautiful scenery, short drive to Yosemite Valley, Tioga Pass road. Had fun playing table tennis and air hockey in the game room."Guest: Ana Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: May 20, 2014View listing
"We have been to the Vineyard House twice in the past two years and plan to return again! Kirsty and Jerry thought of every single detail.....from the fresh flowers and gentle music upon arrival to a kitchen stocked with every cooking tool you could ever need....to the absolutely stunning view with lovely sitting areas wherever you look. The Vineyard House is forever a part of our families history. It was like coming home a second time. Butterfly, the cat, was waiting for us and we quickly settled into what felt like home.....just a beautiful home with a hot tub, stunning vineyard view, claw foot tub to drink wine and look at the secluded view, and so many other special touches. In addition, we have a six year old child, who was thrilled when he discovered the plethora of toys, inside and out to keep him well entertained. The house was so lovely and relaxing, we were torn between exploring Yosemite each day or just staying home and relaxing! While there, you must visit the Butterfly Creek Winery next door....we spent a wonderful afternoon picnicking in this beautiful family friendly place. A vacation to never forget, made possible by Kirsty and Jerry. They couldn't have been more attentive or caring in their desire to make it the special and unforgettable trip it was!"Guest: Christie G. "This house was just perfect for us. After driving from Flagstaff the hot tub was terrific. My teenage son was able to use his "360" at night and I the wifi. Cell service not so good but when we're on vacation we try not to use them so much. There are plenty of pay phones inside the park. Up the hill behind the house reveals a great trail to an old ranger station. The park is so close to the house which makes it so convenient. Each day we took a lunch and found a different spot to enjoy. All in all Perfect House Perfect Location! Be back soon."Guest: Adventure seekers from Texas Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: June 23, 2014View listing
"Picture a place like this: An oasis with green grass, trees for shade, and rustic wooden tables and benches. Butterflies fluttering around fragrant lavender bushes that perfume the breeze. Whimsical wind chimes and dozens of hummingbirds flitting about. Resident dogs Loki and Mini playing in the grass and chasing lizards. A pleasant creek filled with little fish for the dogs to pounce on. Nightly bonfires with a cold beer and warm conversation. A luxurious hot tub and pool to relax in after a long day. Cozy cottage with a comfy bed and beautiful view, interesting books to capture the imagination, and all the necessary comforts of home. No expense spared on gorgeous fixtures and architectural design. All of the above describes the enchanted grounds and ambiance of Spinning Wheel, where the Crescent Cottage is nestled away from the activity of Yosemite. If it sounds like a fairytale come to life, that's because that's precisely what this place is. My husband and I stayed here for three days in the midst of a California road trip. Boy, we wish we had planned to stay longer. Spinning Wheel was a huge part of what made our time in Yosemite our favorite part of the trip. After hiking all day and exploring the beauty of the park, we relished coming home to our little cottage and the beautiful Spinning Wheel grounds. I've never seen anything like it, and I can't emphasize enough the pure MAGIC and specialness of this place. Owner Dharma and property manager Patrick were extremely friendly and inviting. They make you feel like family friends there for a visit. Extremely laid back and pleasant people. It's not a question of if but WHEN we will return to Spinning Wheel, and we are dying to bring friends because simply telling people about this place doesn't do it justice. Do yourself a favor and book yourself an extra day or two at Spinning Wheel. I have no doubt that this place will become as special to you as it is to me, and probably every guest who stays there. We can't wait to return."Guest: Tara Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: September 9, 2014View listing

Visitors who enjoy wildlife viewing can explore the park daily and seek out animals to get some great wildlife photographs. Yosemite has some world-famous climbing crags that attract climbers from around the globe. It is also a popular National Park for hiking. There are trails suitable for both families and more experienced hikers. Things to See and Do near Yosemite Cabins
Yosemite is famous for its incredible waterfalls. There are seven spectacular waterfalls within the park and a further four just outside of it. The Yosemite Falls are made of three smaller waterfalls known as the upper, middle and lower falls. In total, the waterfall has a drop of 2,425 feet, making it the fifth highest waterfall in the world. The Ribbon Falls cascade off the west side of El Capitan and have a drop of 1,612 feet. The Ribbon Falls is the tallest single waterfall in the United States. Other waterfalls include the beautiful Bridalveil Falls, so named because the wind often blows the waterfall, spreading out the water like a bridal veil. The Horsetail Falls is a seasonal waterfall than runs for several weeks in February off the eastern side of El Capitan. The background light from the sun lights up the waterfall in a spectacular way, making it look as though it’s on fire.
Yosemite’s rock formations provide excellent subjects for photographs, especially in the early morning or late afternoon sunlight. Some of the more famous landmarks include El Capitan which is a 7,569-foot granite peak that rises up from the valley floor. It is a challenging and well-known rock climbing face. Mt. Lyell is the tallest peak in the park and also home to the park’s only active glacier. The peak rises up to an impressive height of 13,114 feet. The Matterhorn peak is at an altitude of 12,264 feet and part of a series of peaks that make up the Sawtooth Ridge in the northeastern part of the park.
Best Time of Year to Visit Yosemite
Because of the extensive amount of trails and wildlife viewing opportunities, most people prefer to visit during the summer season. This is also the season when the waterfalls are at their most spectacular. The long summer days are ideal for exploring and enjoying your favorite outdoor activities. Yet summer is not the only season when it’s worth visiting Yosemite. The fall and winter months are particularly beautiful in the park. Snow occurs at higher altitudes and there is a ski resort at Badger Pass which has a number of ski runs. Cross country skiing is also available at Mariposa Grove.
