  • Wonderful Family Christmas at Oso Lodge!!

"We stayed at Oso Lodge during Christmas. It was 7 adults and 3 kids. It was perfect for our family. The lodge is in a GREAT location to see the whole park, it is centrally located within the park. Everything was very well kept, very clean and comfortable. Barbara is a joy to work with and is easily reachable via phone if you need her. We will be back!"

  • Beautiful brand new house nestled in woods

"Beautiful brand new house. Soaring high ceilings. Fireplace, deck, beautiful kitchen. Comfortable beds and linens. Nestled among pine trees. 30 minutes from Valley. When driving in we were wondering if there were houses as we we were driving among trees, the we turned into Yosemite West and entered a small community of new homes. Perfect mix of in the woods, but with neighbors. Great Yosemite get away. Note: the house is located down many Stairs, so lots of walking up and down initially to unload car, nicely tucked away off road."

  • Excellent Vacation

"10/10 would recommend! I selected this rental as a "kids house" for a family reunion (12 cousins ages 21-27 and 3 slightly older). This served as a general hangout for kids and adults for our entire vacation with plenty of room to hang out. A little far (90 minute drive) from Yosemite Valley, the location was still excellent. Local convenience stores, boat rentals, and nice restaurants made this a wonderful vacation with everything we needed for our trip either available at the cabin or within walking distance. The owner Julie was fantastic! (1) The rental was not fully cleaned when the first group arrived; she offered to buy our entire group ice cream as compensation. (2) The lake level was too low for the renters' boat slip; she allowed us to use her private boat slip. (3) Some family members left a few bags; she overnight shipped them at no cost to us. (4) After exchanging emails and phone calls/texts, I could tell she really just wanted us to have a good time!"

Yosemite Area Travel Tips

Incredible Scenery at Yosemite

One thing that Yosemite is known for is its beautiful scenery. Located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the landscape is characterized by majestic mountain peaks, cascading waterfalls and wide valleys. It is the perfect vacation destination for people who enjoy nature and appreciate beautiful scenery. Yosemite is also known for its abundant wildlife, in particular its bears. Visitors who enjoy wildlife viewing can explore the park daily and seek out animals to get some great wildlife photographs. Yosemite has some world-famous climbing crags that attract climbers from around the globe. It is also a popular National Park for hiking. There are trails suitable for both families and more experienced hikers. The valley has a paved biking trail that is ideal for sightseeing and gaining access to some of the more remote areas of the park. Bikes can be hired from various centers in the park.

Things to See and Do near Yosemite Cabins

Yosemite is famous for its incredible waterfalls. There are seven spectacular waterfalls within the park and a further four just outside of it. The Yosemite Falls are made of three smaller waterfalls known as the upper, middle and lower falls. In total, the waterfall has a drop of 2,425 feet, making it the fifth highest waterfall in the world. The Ribbon Falls cascade off the west side of El Capitan and have a drop of 1,612 feet. The Ribbon Falls is the tallest single waterfall in the United States. Other waterfalls include the beautiful Bridalveil Falls, so named because the wind often blows the waterfall, spreading out the water like a bridal veil. The Horsetail Falls is a seasonal waterfall than runs for several weeks in February off the eastern side of El Capitan. The background light from the sun lights up the waterfall in a spectacular way, making it look as though it’s on fire.

Yosemite’s rock formations provide excellent subjects for photographs, especially in the early morning or late afternoon sunlight. Some of the more famous landmarks include El Capitan which is a 7,569-foot granite peak that rises up from the valley floor. It is a challenging and well-known rock climbing face. Mt. Lyell is the tallest peak in the park and also home to the park’s only active glacier. The peak rises up to an impressive height of 13,114 feet. The Matterhorn peak is at an altitude of 12,264 feet and part of a series of peaks that make up the Sawtooth Ridge in the northeastern part of the park.

Best Time of Year to Visit Yosemite

Because of the extensive amount of trails and wildlife viewing opportunities, most people prefer to visit during the summer season. This is also the season when the waterfalls are at their most spectacular. The long summer days are ideal for exploring and enjoying your favorite outdoor activities. Yet summer is not the only season when it’s worth visiting Yosemite. The fall and winter months are particularly beautiful in the park. Snow occurs at higher altitudes and there is a ski resort at Badger Pass which has a number of ski runs. Cross country skiing is also available at Mariposa Grove.

Sierra Nevada Vacation Rentals in Yosemite

Yosemite is one of the major parks that has a number of resorts and private homes within its boundaries. This provides a wide variety of accommodation options for visitors. There are also several private homes located just outside the park which provide easy aces to the area's attractions. In general, the homes inside the park are smaller and cater for families of two to six people. Many have hot tubs which are ideal for soaking in while enjoying the mountain scenery.

Get away to the mountains and enjoy solitude and majestic beauty all around Yosemite cabins rented by owner.
