  • Great cabin, wonderful Stay!

"Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cabin! It worked really well for our young granddaughter and my sons family dog! Many, many amenities and great attention to detail by the owners, make this cabin extra special! Especially great that the property backs up to national forest!"

  • Retreat getaway

"Best looking house in the entire neighborhood. Beautifully decorated inside and out. Would love to own this house. Neighbors were very friendly and kind. Hot tub was the best ever and very private which we loved so much. The property has lots of trees and birds which is so nice. We had the best time."

  • Absolutely Perfect!!

"This review can not express what a great time we had. My husband, myself, two of our daughters and their friend stayed the first weekend in March. The size of the cabin was great. It was very clean and had everything we needed. It had two heaters that kept the place toasty without having to keep the fire going. It is a fenced house so I felt safe letting the girls (ages 7-12) play outside by themselves. There were shovels and sleds that came in very handy. The location is very close to Big Bear Village and Snow Play and Alpine Slide!!! All very fun!!! There is even a state park (free) that we used the sleds from this cabin at. The only thing that I will complain about is the table top eating area is only for two people (but they do have 4 fold out tv trays) so we played monopoly on the floor. I'd also like to mention it was our first time in Big Bear, renting a cabin and going to the snow so I had a million questions and never once did the cabin owners make me feel like I was unintelligent or annoying. Thank you again Richard and your family....we made memories we will never forget PS...we left 6 long metal skewers for the next family to enjoy making s'mores."

Sugarloaf Travel Tips

Sugarloaf Cabins Are Surrounded by a National Forest and Close to the Slopes

The small community of Sugarloaf is located near Big Bear Lake and lies within the San Bernardino National Forest, the only region in Southern California where the climate, at 7,000 feet, allows for distinct seasons. Warm summers and snowy winters create an assortment of recreational opportunities for visitors including skiing, snowboarding, sledding, hiking, and boating, which are all accessible from Sugarloaf cabins and Sugarloaf rental houses. Los Angeles is only about 100 miles southwest of the Big Bear Lake area, but the climate and the flora and fauna up in the mountains are vastly different from that of L.A. and coastal Southern California. Visitors come to the high elevations of the San Bernardino Mountains to enjoy the alpine tundra climate, the spectacular mountain scenery, and all the unique ways to enjoy the outdoors that change with the seasons.

A Winter Wonderland Tucked Away in the Woods, Yet Not Far From the Action

Sugarloaf rental houses are minutes from the ski slopes of Snow Summit and Bear Mountain, two of Southern California's top ski resorts that together provide dozens of trails, lifts, and snowboard parks for all skill levels. The two resorts, which offer interchangeable lift tickets, encompass nearly 450 acres of snow-covered terrain for skiers and snowboarders. In the spring, summer, and fall seasons visitors can choose from an array of activities in this setting of breathtaking alpine terrain including golfing, fishing, mountain biking, trail hiking and scenic sky-chair rides.

Your Own Private Mountain Lodge for a Vacation You'll Never Forget

After a day in the bracing mountain air, the comfort of Big Bear vacation rentals await weary but invigorated "mountaineers" who want to kick back and relax in their own living spaces, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, laundry facilities, and private outdoor areas. You'll be way out in the woods—but with all the comforts of home in Sugarloaf cabins.
