  • Perfect getaway

"My wife and I wanted a quiet getaway to celebrate her birthday and to also enjoy our first vacation since our kids were born. Beth's place couldn't have been more perfect. My wife is originally from Colorado and had never been to Big Bear, so she had pretty high standards for a mountain retreat. Needless to say, this place exceeded both of our expectations. I read every review and they were all spot on. Beth was a pleasure to deal with and always returned my emails quickly. The cabin was clean, had tons of charm, and really had everything we wanted. We enjoyed a few meals in and also took advantage of the close proximity to the village. Beth gave us many restaurant recommendations which all turned out to be perfect. In short, we will be visiting Big Bear more frequently and will always check to see if this place is available first. Perfect amount of space for a couple and maybe one small child."

  • Beautiful location and well organized

"What a great time! The owner was very quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had in regards to our stay. We were all amazed by how accommodating and organized the cottage was. It offered SO MUCH. We really enjoyed having a jacuzzi with an impressive view of Boulder Bay right in front of us. It was a great way to unwind while the sun was setting. The overall feel of the house decor was very "cabin like" complimenting the high wood ceilings and you felt invited and at home. Yet, all the appliances and TVs were all up to date providing a modern touch. Even the beds seemed newer and very comfortable. The private dock with optional pontoon boat and kayaks were a great way to experience the lake and to see Big Bear City shorelines. The boat fired right up and was very easy to manage. Boulder Bay Cottage was an absolute pleasure, Thank You. I would highly recommend this to anybody considering a vacation in Big Bear. There's something for everyone."

  • Beautiful home, very child friendly

"Our family stayed here along with another family for a weekend getaway, and we loved every minute of it. The home is possibly even nicer than pictured - beautiful, open kitchen/dining/living area, very large master (our daughter slept on the floor next to us and we still had plenty of room to walk around,) and the bunk bed room was perfect for the littles - and very well insulated to noise. The master jacuzzi tub was amazing, and the hot tub was such a nice treat. The house has tons of games, puzzles, movies, etc. and was uber kid friendly (we had a 2, 3, and 4 year old in tow). We look forward to staying here again in the future. Thank you!"

  • Great Family Getaway at Amazing Location

"My wife and I brought our three children to Big Bear for the first time and stayed at the Grand. It truly is an exceptional home in an amazing location. We were just minutes from everything and the views from this home are truly unrivaled. We honestly scoured the coastline to find a home with a better view and there simply isn't one. The house was a destination itself such that when we weren't out hiking or boating, we were still experiencing the lake either sitting on the dock or on one of the many patios overlooking the lake. The house is very well appointed inside with lots of things to do (Ping-Pong, billiards, card table, bar) in the winter months, although we didn't use them much during our summer stay. The owners take extremely good care of the house and there were literally no maintenance or similar issues with the home. Our family has stayed in many high-end vacation rental homes and they all seem to show the wear and tear of being constantly rented. This home is the exception: there is very little wear noticeable on anything. Overall, I would consider the Grand one of the crown jewels of Big Bear Lake. It is very rare to find such a nice home for rent and in such great condition. Treat yourself to this amazing home and you won't be disappointed!"

Sugarloaf Travel Tips

Sugarloaf Cabins Are Surrounded by a National Forest and Close to the Slopes

The small community of Sugarloaf is located near Big Bear Lake and lies within the San Bernardino National Forest, the only region in Southern California where the climate, at 7,000 feet, allows for distinct seasons. Warm summers and snowy winters create an assortment of recreational opportunities for visitors including skiing, snowboarding, sledding, hiking, and boating, which are all accessible from Sugarloaf cabins and Sugarloaf rental houses. Los Angeles is only about 100 miles southwest of the Big Bear Lake area, but the climate and the flora and fauna up in the mountains are vastly different from that of L.A. and coastal Southern California. Visitors come to the high elevations of the San Bernardino Mountains to enjoy the alpine tundra climate, the spectacular mountain scenery, and all the unique ways to enjoy the outdoors that change with the seasons.

A Winter Wonderland Tucked Away in the Woods, Yet Not Far From the Action

Sugarloaf rental houses are minutes from the ski slopes of Snow Summit and Bear Mountain, two of Southern California's top ski resorts that together provide dozens of trails, lifts, and snowboard parks for all skill levels. The two resorts, which offer interchangeable lift tickets, encompass nearly 450 acres of snow-covered terrain for skiers and snowboarders. In the spring, summer, and fall seasons visitors can choose from an array of activities in this setting of breathtaking alpine terrain including golfing, fishing, mountain biking, trail hiking and scenic sky-chair rides.

Your Own Private Mountain Lodge for a Vacation You'll Never Forget

After a day in the bracing mountain air, the comfort of Big Bear vacation rentals await weary but invigorated "mountaineers" who want to kick back and relax in their own living spaces, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, laundry facilities, and private outdoor areas. You'll be way out in the woods—but with all the comforts of home in Sugarloaf cabins.
