"Beautiful scenery and cabin. Plenty of room for all of us and very comfortable. The owner wrote "Guests provide their own meals" very true, the cabin has everything you can possibly need and/or want. Fully loaded from the kitchen to the bedrooms. Smart TV, WiFi, and card games. We didn't need all the extras we took. Sitting on the deck drinking my coffee listening to the birds and the water running in the nearby creek was my favorite part of the day, AMAZING. The bike ride down to the private beach was fun, the residents are great. We drove down to the public area and rented jet skis and they helped us inflate a large floating boat which everyone enjoyed. The new Donner Museum is open and my daughter really enjoyed learning how it all started and sadly ended on Donner Pass. We took a quick drive to Truckee but were anxious to return to the peace and quite of the cabin. They guys were able to fish (only caught one) but had a blast. The owner was very quick and polite when we asked questions. Vacations are never relaxing but I did find time to sit and enjoy, thank you. I can't wait to visit again."

"I love this place! Staying at this hidden gem has been a tradition for years. Its excellent location, close to hiking, biking, fishing, beach, and breathtaking views, makes it a great place to stay. There are so many activities within a short distance, it is hard to choose just one. When it is time to unwind, a few minutes away downtown Truckee awaits with its plethora of restaurants, bars, and shops. Tahoe City, King’s Beach, and Reno are also in close proximity. On the other hand, you may want to skip the activities and just enjoy the cabin and the beautiful surrounding neighborhood. The cabin is located amidst a tight community of friendly neighbors, perfect for leisurely afternoon stroll. The quaint, yet extremely cute cabin has the rustic feel of Donner Lake, although it is equipped with many modern conveniences, such as laundry facilities and wireless internet. I would recommend staying at this cabin if you want to enjoy Donner Lake as a visitor, but want to feel like you are a local."

"This location was awesome! It seemed like we were in our own alpine paradise far away from anything but 4 miles away is the old town of Truckee. Everything is there that you could ever need or want.
I took my wife here for a surprise 26th honeymoon getaway :) The owner David was very easy to work with and obviously cared that we enjoyed our stay at his own personal family lake house. VERY nicely furnished - none of the typical rental garage sale furnishings here!
It's almost like being on Kauai... you start thinking about moving in! We relaxed by the fire... plugged in Pandora to the stereo system and played our favorite 80s music...
This is the note I sent David after our trip...
"Everything was very nice. Your lake house is absolutely beautiful! My wife had an idea we were going to the Truckee area but didn't know for sure... I just told her to bring warm clothes and pack for 3 nights. We went to Pianeta's Italian for dinner, went to see the gorgeous views from Rainbow Bridge and the top of the pass on old route 40, checked out the amazing Ritz Resort at Northstar, walked and shopped old main street Truckee and had lunch at Burger Me. We spent an hour in Ace Hardware... what fun - they have EVERYTHING! That is the most awesome hardware store ever!
I'm an early riser and it was great to get up while it was still dark and watch the changes on the lake through sunrise and after. The weather was cold but dry and felt much warmer than it was. On Tuesday afternoon in Truckee it was jeans and t-shirts - almost 70F and warmer in the sun.
We had a great time enjoying each other and being together... your lake house just made everything better! We were sad to leave but glad to have the memories.""
