  • Perfect Place for a family

"My wife and I stayed here while in town for a race at Northstar. We were joined by our four children and a set of in-laws. Kids range from 1-10 years old. This place was perfect. Immaculately kept and well appointed. The space lays out perfectly for what we look for in a vacation rental....tons of sleeping options and a large common space for everyone to hang out in. We will always stay here when we travel to Northstar or the North shore for that matter. I also had the opportunity to meet Dennis, the owner. He's a great guy and followed up after our trip (I gave him my cell phone) to ask specifically how the kids liked it. Good man. Aside from the house, which was great, we were blown away by the overall service at Northstar. Shuttles were at the edge of our driveway within 10 minutes of our call. Dropped us right in the village. We left our driveway and were at the Gondola in 15 minutes max. This may not be normal....there were 8000 people there for the race, but the shuttles were ridiculously punctual and reliable. We spent Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning at the rec center which is beautiful and perfect for kids. 3 pools (1 just for little kids and 1 just for adults) and 2 hot tubs (same setup). Without planning it this way, we actually never left Northstar until departure. We used shuttles the whole time and didn't even get into our car. This place is a steal. Highly recommended for families with kids. Would also be a good setup for 3 separate couples there for a ski trip. Has all the amenities. Phone, wi-fi, plasma, cable, dvd, well appointed kitchen (we cocked 2 nights), washer dryer. Highly recommended."

  • Beautiful home in great location

"Stayed here for a week in mid-July. The photos do not do this cabin justice - at all. The main living space is huge, plenty of couches, beautiful fireplace and excellent TV / sound system. The dining room can sit ten comfortably. The kitchen is the best equipped of any rental we have stayed in. Its clear that this is not just a vacation rental, but rather a home that is enjoyed, loved and cared for by its owners. The upstairs space is equally impressive, with a massive master suite, one queen bedroom and another with two bunks. There is also a lovely den, stocked with lots of books and wooden toys which my kids got hours and hours of fun out of. There is an additional queen downstairs. The home is on a very quiet court and offers a good deal of privacy. There's a good sized deck right off of the living room and plenty of wooded space to explore at the back of the cabin. If you haven't been to Northstar before, you should know that the Big Springs area is by far the nicest part of the resort. More generally, this location worked for us as a base for exploring Tahoe, Truckee, Reno and as far as Virginia City in Nevada. There aren't many shops in Northstar itself, but Truckee and Kings Beach (both only 15mins away) will have everything you could need for your stay. We had one minor issue during our stay which Brad and Laura were super quick to respond to. I highly recommend this cabin - we would happily stay here again."

  • Great location, fantastic price!

"We enjoyed our stay. Deducted one star since the counters were gritty when we arrived. Otherwise, a great place and very comfortable for a family of four."

  • Great deal!

"We just finished a lovely summer stay here. This condo felt like a great value. The furnishings were very nice, beds very comfy, bathrooms super clean and updated (hello giant tub), and the kitchen was fabulous...very high end and better stocked than almost any place we have ever rented. Seriously, there was unopened Ben and Jerry's in the freezer! And hot fudge and whipped cream. Score! There were lots of goodies in the pantry. We stayed at Squaw last summer, and while their pool is much superior, for the same money we got an extra bedroom and bathroom, and a full, spacious kitchen instead of a little kitchenette. I liked that the unit was top floor with vaulted ceilings (and no noise from neighbors above your head). And while it is right in the village, it faces to a quiet area and we could not hear the piped in village music with the balcony door open. We had a young child with us, and he loved the games in the unit, the Netflix on the TV and the sandbox close by. He LOVED gem panning in the village, and the roller skating looked fun too. We rafted the Truckee River, played in the lake at different beaches and hiked, then enjoyed cooking dinner while the kid slept in his room, which was conveniently not close to the master. My only thought is that the living area could use a rug, as the furniture slid around a lot, but overall, we loved this place. It seems like a family really calls this place their home away from home, while still maintaining a very polished resort feel. Leslie was also very personable and friendly, and accommodated our early check in request. Can't wait to come back!"
