  • Wonderful winter or summer

"The house is beautiful and spacious. It is obvious that the owners use the house and that it isn't a pure rental because the beds are comfortable, there are plenty of towels, there are fantastic kids toys, and the kitchen is well stocked. You walk out the back door and there is a hot tub where you can watch the kids play on the slide and swing set, or run around in the woods and play in the creek. You also have a great view of the birds coming and going from the adorable bird houses. When I came here in the winter there was plenty of space for snow ball fights, building snow people, etc. There are plenty of ski resorts near by and a national park for some fun (and free) sledding as well."

  • 5th stay!

"My 5th time staying here with my wife and 2 year old son. We always enjoy our stay here. Tons of skiing options, even now. I went to Sugarbowl which is a short and scenic drive. No doubt if you stay here you will have a great trip."

  • Great location and a comfortable stay

"We stayed here for a week in July with our two young kids. The house suits a family very well - nice and clean, with bunk beds and a separate bathroom for the youngsters. The upstairs living room is clean and bright with a small balcony and a kitchen which has pretty much everything you need. The house is in the Tahoe Donner development and you can use the guest passes provided by the owner to access many of the facilities in the area for a small daily fee. These include the Trout Creek Recreation Area (5 minutes walk!), the Northwoods Pool, Tennis, Bocce, Archery, and access to the Beach Club Marina on Donner Lake. There are hiking trails nearby although we used the car to access them. Donner Lake is about 5 minutes drive down the hill, and is a good alternative to Lake Tahoe for watersports. As well as the Beach Club Marina where you can rent paddle boards, kayaks and pedal boats, there is Donner Lake Water Sports which is accessed via Donner Memorial State Park, if you want something faster. Downtown Truckee is just a minute or two away. We didn't eat out all that often but we can recommend Bar of America and Jax at the Tracks, an original 1940s diner which is super kid-friendly and full of character. Squaw Valley is only about 20 minutes drive from the house and is well worth a visit and a ride up in the aerial tram. From Squaw Valley you can cycle on a paved track all the way into Tahoe City, and continue on to several watersports centers around the lake. There is so much to do here for families in the summertime, and we are already thinking about a winter vacation - let's hope there is more snow next season! The owner was especially helpful and informative and sorted us out when we accidentally left something behind. All in all, this was a great vacation."

  • Heidiway - Our home away from home

"We stayed at this property three times during the 2014 ski season. The house is very comfortable and well taken care of by the owners. The owners were great to work with and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great location, close to Truckee for dinner after a day of skiing with the kids, and we discovered Wild Cherry Coffee House, perfect for picking up an extra cup of coffee on the way to Squaw. I would definitely recommend HeidiWay to others."

Tahoe Donner Travel Tips

Tahoe Donner Vacation Rentals Feel Like Home

Lake Tahoe has long been one of America's playgrounds and vacation destinations because of the temperate climate and breathtaking scenery. When planning a Lake Tahoe getaway, consider Tahoe Donner vacation rentals for your Lake Tahoe North Shore lodging needs. Nestled in gorgeous pine forests of the Sierra Mountains, Tahoe Donner cabins come in a large selection ranging from luxury lodges for larger groups to cozy cabins for a couple. Tahoe Donner vacation rentals are located only three miles from Donner Lake and less than 10 miles from Lake Tahoe's northern shore, allowing you to enjoy the attractions, but feel like you're at home.

Tahoe Donner Vacation Rentals Are near Natural Attractions

Just minutes from your Tahoe Donner cabin is Tahoe Donner Memorial State Park. In winter, opportunities to cross-country ski, snowshoe, and snowmobile abound, and in warmer months, visitors can swim, fish, picnic, hike, and water-ski. Inside the park, the Emigrant Trail Museum pays homage to early emigrants who paved the way for California's future. View artifacts and learn about the Donner Party, forced to camp in the wilderness during winter and experienced much loss of life.

Less than 10 miles southwest from your Lake Tahoe North Shore lodging is a more rustic experience found in Granite Chief Wilderness. Over 19,000 acres of undeveloped, untouched natural beauty is home to many non-motorized recreations. Spend the day beneath towering pines, enjoying granite cliffs, glacial valleys, rock formations, and wildflower-filled meadows.

Tahoe Donner Vacation Rentals: A Place to Play

Enjoy a day at West End Beach on Lake Tahoe. A playground and volleyball and tennis courts present a family game opportunity and, afterward, relish a sunset while eating a picnic dinner by the fire pit. When your busy Lake Tahoe day is done, return to your cabin to enjoy a quiet, relaxing evening with your loved ones.
