  • All the Comforts of Home + Bears! (well, one bear)

"We had a delightful stay at the Denoix's cabin. This is a beautifully maintained property and very comfortable - you can kick back, relax and enjoy the serenity of whispering pines and blue sky. Because of its location, there is very little road traffic and even on a weekend in July, the neighborhood was very quiet. We loved sitting out on the deck - a great place to enjoy coffee and breakfast in the morning or a soothing libation in the evening under the stars. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Richard is great work to with - answered all my questions and provided complete information about all aspects of our stay. I really appreciated the fact that the rental included the housecleaning fee. A lot of places charge an additional fee on top of the rent and sometimes those fees are very high. My deposit was returned promptly after we had returned from our weekend. We hope to return for another stay sometime in the future. Notes: the concern about bears is real! On our second morning there my husband and I were sitting on the deck, about 7:30 am, when we heard a noise and looked up to see a bear ambling across the road right in front of the deck. We suspect the noise was the bear having a go at the "bear proof" trash box next to the cabin driveway. The bear proceeded to check out the neighbors trash box across the road and then wandered off through their property. It was cool to see the bear - but definitely brought home to us the reality of the situation. It's very important to follow the rules when it comes to bear-proofing! One other note: Richard and Lenore Denoix own/operate the Casse-Croute Bakery in my hometown, Livermore, CA - a fact I did not know when I first contacted them about renting this cabin. What a coincidince! I can recommend their bakery, as well as their cabin."

  • vacation getaway-pure paradise

"We stayed at this beautiful home for a 2 week multi-family vacation and it was absolutely paradise. This home is perfect for multi-family vacations, as is has 3 levels. we were all so comfortable and had our own space as well. we will be vacationing here again, next time in the winter so we can use the wonderful wood burning fire place. Also, next time no kids as it is always the perfect place for a romantic getaway too! Tell your friends about this wonderful home, but don't think your taking away our weeks of enjoyment, we will be booking soon for our next adventure here."

  • Closest to our ideal house yet!

"We stayed here for a long weekend with multiple families and kids ranging in age from 2 years old to 8. Everything was perfect, starting with the close proximity to 80 and Northstar (we spent all our resort time there and were even able to get to lessons from the house on a Saturday morning in under 20 minutes), and ending with that there was enough space for us all to be comfortable and have a great time. Everything is clearly labeled and they have everything you need (kiddie friendly with pack & play and kid proof dishes and utensils), even for the tech junkies (internet, direct tv, big screen tv's) that we are! The ONLY problem with our stay is that there was not enough snow and it felt more like a late Spring weekend rather than middle of winter. And the ONLY thing that would make this house our ideal rental is if you put it right in Northstar (but then you would have to fight all that resort traffic and getting in and out). So for now, we will take the Truckee convenience and proximity, and everything perfect about the house and be ever so happy with our find!"

  • Family Gathering in Truckee

"This house worked so well for our family. We had up to twelve people staying in this house and the three bedrooms and three baths as well as a bonus room accommodated everyone comfortably. The first two days of our stay it rained and having the bonus room with a pool table as well as a beautiful hot tube made all the difference. Anything you could possibly need was there and more. From blenders, coffee makers and extra mattress with linens to beach chairs and a great grill. It was close to Truckee for shopping and entertainment as well as Donner Lake for swimming. I would recommend this house to anyone and working with Scott, the owner, was great. Easy to get a hold of for questions and the refund of our security deposit was done very timely. We will be renting this property again next year for sure."
