  • vacation getaway-pure paradise

"We stayed at this beautiful home for a 2 week multi-family vacation and it was absolutely paradise. This home is perfect for multi-family vacations, as is has 3 levels. we were all so comfortable and had our own space as well. we will be vacationing here again, next time in the winter so we can use the wonderful wood burning fire place. Also, next time no kids as it is always the perfect place for a romantic getaway too! Tell your friends about this wonderful home, but don't think your taking away our weeks of enjoyment, we will be booking soon for our next adventure here."

  • This house was all we wanted and MORE!

"I am so happy with our choice to stay in this home! We invited our family from the East Coast to come celebrate our parent's 50th Anniversary and this house was perfect. It was comfortable and roomy with well thought out details. The big kitchen and the game room were highlights. The kids loved riding bikes up to the Clubhouse to swim. The location is perfect for all kinds of adventures…river, lake, hiking, and dining in downtown Truckee. Steve also did an excellent job of taking care of us and responding to our questions quickly."

  • luxurious and homey all in one

"We rented this home for a our wedding weekend and I can not say enough great things about it. This is warm, inviting and enormous all in one. The kitchen is breathtaking and dual side fireplaces are just a couple things that we loved. There was so much room that you never knew how many people were staying there. The owner of the home and her assistant are more helpful than any other rental owner I've ever dealt with. We left a couple very important things behind and they went out of their way to get things back to us safely and quickly. I will be coming back to this home for sure!"

  • Comfortable one-story home, GREAT kitchen... BUT READ THE CONTRACT!

"Without too much difficulty, we were able to get the landlord to AMEND the UNFAIR terms in the "Fill-in-the-Blank" rental contract that he proposed. FAIR WARNING: READ THE CONTRACT BEFORE YOU SIGN (details below). This very comfortable home is located in "Tahoe Donner"--a very nice alpine development--everything up-scale. Wonderful facilities for people seeking recreational opportunities (golf, skiing, etc.). For our family reunion of 25 relatives (staying in three different houses), we rented a Tahoe Donner Association pool, able to accommodate 50 people, for 2 1/2 hours (with two lifeguards) for $150. A VERY nice pool facility. What a deal! This one-story home is on a quiet street. Although the lots are narrow, from the comfortable, wide deck on the back of the house other homes were just glimpses through the very thick and beautiful trees. Very lovely! As indicated in our review title, the kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped: modern appliances and almost any kitchen tool or gadget you could imagine (among the best two kitchens of some twelve VRBO rentals in our experience). Since we prepared most of our meals, this was a big plus. The family room and master bedroom have ceiling fans. The other two bedrooms do not. For summer time, we HIGHLY recommend bringing portable fans for those two "fanless" bedrooms. (It would be very inexpensive for the landlord to install ceiling fans, but...). ABOUT THAT CONTRACT: It requires you to list by name all temporary tenants living there and would prohibit having other guests, even for dinner: "No other guests, visitors or persons are permitted." (Paragraph 4.) This is a big issue if your "unlisted" dinner guest is injured due to the landlord's negligence (e.g., an unsafe condition on the property). He could argue that it is your fault for having an unlisted guest. It requires that you pay a NON-REFUNDABLE "Reservation Fee" of $300.00. What is this? Although it requires a separate "Cleaning Fee" of $130.00, Paragraph10 also states that the "Premises will be delivered to Occupant [that's you, the renter] in a professionally cleaned condition..." "If Occupant does not return the Premises in the same condition, a(n) (additional) charge will be deducted from the security deposit." In other words, you pay twice if you don't leave it "professionally" clean. This rather strange "boilerplate" contract is published by the California Association of Realtors and is expressly designed to favor the landlord 100%."
