  • Ruby's Retreat -A Real Treat!

"Our family consisting of grandparents, two adult children and two grandchildren and one small dog had a fabulous time in Lake Tahoe the week of 4th of July 2014. Ruby's Retreat was the perfect home for us, offering all the amenities we needed and was a short walk to the Sunnyside marina and resort area and just a quick ride to Tahoe City for groceries at Save Mart. (Reasonable prices) The cabin was clean upon our arrival and the beds were quite comfortable. The downstairs sofa/TV area was very comfortable and ideal for our family of six. We loved the deck and BBQ'd and ate several meals there. The upstairs did get a little warm one night but the owner, Dawn, graciously offered to reimburse us the cost for fans. The owners are quick to respond to questions and are very helpful. I suggested that instructions for use of the TVs and DVD player would be helpful for the tech challenged--though Franz made a good effort at talking us through the process. This is a great location on the West Shore where all the sights and activities Lake Tahoe offers are a short ride away. We highly recommend lunch at West Shore Café in Homewood and Pizza at the Lakeside Pizza in Tahoe City. We loved Ruby's Retreat and much appreciated the personal attention of the owners. We would definitely recommend this rental."

  • Giant home with amazing views!

"About 15 of us came up to celebrate my 28th birthday from Friday-Sunday. Anna was great and sent me the keys beforehand so we were all set to go (instead of getting there and fiddling with a lockbox or something). The stairs are a little rough, so I don't recommend it for people who can't handle a few flights. The main door opens to a big entryway, plenty of room to unload stuff, though I wish there were some coathooks and more mats for wet jackets and boots. The indoor woodroom is awesome, no going out in the snow for firewood! The two bedrooms downstairs each have a queen and 2 sets of bunkbeds, and there is a full bathroom and half bath down there as well. The top floor is where its at- 3 giant couches and a recliner, a big fireplace, TV and big dining table, perfect for games! The kitchen is updated with granite counters and new appliances, and the house is fully stocked with extra paper towels, TP, etc. There was a even a blender and a crockpot!! There are 2 bedrooms upstairs with a queen bed each and a bathroom. Remember to bring sheets and towels! But lets get down to the deck. The deck is AMAZING!! Views of the lake and all the trees covered in snow. We didn't get to spend much time outside but it was nice to wake up, grab some coffee and be able to look at the snow coming down. The place was really easy to get to you, as you come in on the 89 there is a SaveMart on the left hand side for any last minute stuff and all the roads are generally clear. You get to drive right along the lake and the house is high enough for an awesome view but not hard to get to. And, its pet friendly :) 10/10 would stay here again! Thanks Anna!"

  • Awesome stay at Bear Haven

"My family and I have been Tahoe cabin renters for the past 25 years. In an effort to continue the tradition, my husband and I chose Bear Haven mainly because of its proximity to the south lodge at Homewood Ski Resort and the sleeping capacity of the cabin. While the weather conditions were unfortunate (a.k.a no snow) the cabin is so well located and equipped that we did not run out of fun things to do during our four night stay. We had a great time hiking around the "backyard", sledding on Homeward Bound, riding bikes on the quiet street, playing pool & board games, cooking, visiting Squaw and Tahoe City and best of all warming up in the hot tub. We also really appreciated the cleanliness and well stocked kitchen. The only negative thing about the cabin would be the upper inside staircase which was treacherous and not safe for our bouncy 5 and 7 year old cousins or for the adults. While there are baby gates provided there is no way to block this particular stair case, so make sure to keep a close watch on your little ones while hanging in the living room. For perspective there were three couples and two children ages 5 & 7, although the cabin can accommodate more. Overall we loved Bear Haven and definitely plan to come back next year. Thanks Dan and Debbie for your quick communication and for providing a great vacation cabin."
