  • Nice Place, Good Location

"Good location north of downtown LA for accessing Santa Monica, Venice, Pasadena, and all points north of downtown LA. Close to Beverly Hills, Hollywood Boulevard, the Hollywood Bowl, Sunset Strip, etc. As noted, the apartment is in an older (circa 1920-1930) house in the Hollywood Hills area and has a nice outdoor area in which to sit for morning coffee or evening cocktails. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was adequate. One caveat: the air conditioning consisted of one "portable" unit (not really portable because it was vented through a window in the living room and could not be moved, and one had to drain the water dehumidified from the air every few hours after the water holding tank filled up), so if you're used to a really cool inside environment you might find this inconvenient. Having said that, however, we - being used to a very cool interior temperature - dealt with it with minimal inconvenience and made use of an oscillating fan in the bedroom to help keep us cool at night. The owners were great...there when we arrived...unobtrusive...easy to talk to, etc. I would stay there again."

  • A Startup Team's Dream House

"Even though we left this beautiful house weeks ago, our hearts are never truly going to be able to leave. This house transformed a run of the mill business trip into three weeks we'll never forget. The house has the perfect layout for a business/start-up team — plenty of bedrooms, a giant living room/dining room (which we converted into our workspace), and (of course) a killer swimming pool for when the work day is over! The well equipped kitchen and (multiple!) outside grills kept the chefs among us busy, and everyone else well fed. The view from the house is spectacular, theres plenty of fun games in the game drawer, there's even toys for kids if you have them! It's a great house for all different ages and types of people. Believe it or not, this house actually started feeling like home after only a couple days. I'm sure you'll feel the same way!"

  • Girl's birthday trip

"I've been renting homes from VRBO for the past five years, both abroad and locally. This is the first time, I've chosen to write a review about our stay. Upon arrival to the house, which was a ways up a "no outlet" canyon, I was quite excited about the secluded area; close to everything but tucked away for privacy. I parked in the driveway as the SUV I rented was too big to fit in the garage...not a problem. The house has a lot of stairs in order to get to the middle level for entry access (something to consider when hauling groceries). As I walked to the gate and descended, I was shocked as it was not indicated in the photograph nor by mention in conversation that construction on the adjacent property was underway. The neighboring project dwarfed the home we'd rented, with scaffolding hovering over the pool area. As it was a Sunday, there was no activity and other than a neighbor's barking dog, it was relatively quiet. Next day construction began at 7:45 am, with a rude awakening to a cacophony of noise and workmen. The unexpected view was intrusive enough but we couldn't imagine sharing a week of our vacation accompanied by continuous interruptions. That's when Leah, the property manager came into the picture. I called her and explained the situation...cell service is bad in the house FYI. She gave us several options to stay or to check out early, after she'd contacted the owner. She was extremely responsive and handled everything so professionally. We decided to give it a day, via her suggestion to see how things go and ended up staying for the week! The workers, knowing we were there on vacation, still came early to start but kept noise down to a minimum and stopped working around 4:30 each day. The location of the house was great for hiking. The house was very warm during the day but cooled off for sleeping at night. We avoided construction by sight-seeing and shopping until dinner time. Came home to a nice kitchen for dine in meals when we didn't want to eat out. Had cocktails in the open atrium. Leah checked on us and made sure we were happy. I'd have to say, if my exchange with her had been poorly handled, I would have left that first day and given this property a very bad review. Too often a person's efforts is overshadowed by a circumstance outside of their control, I wanted to write this review for Leah. Because of her, we ended up staying and enjoying a fantastic week of fun in Hollywood hills!"
