  • A little bit of heaven

"This place is beautiful. The boardwalk does *not* extend down from Venice, and so it's like your own private beach, complete with a little seabird nesting preserve. The sailboats slide silently in and out of the marina all day, white sails dashing against a blue ocean and bluer sky. You can see from Point Mugu west of the Santa Monica Mountains in the north down to Rancho Palos Verdes and Catalina beyond…all from your balcony...and dining room table...and bed. With windows open bringing a sea breeze and the sound of waves, on a drowsy Sunday afternoon we had perhaps the best nap possible in this world. We even had a whale jump four times in the ocean right off the balcony (not guaranteed to occur : ), and during one of morning walks on the beach, a baby sea lion come out of the surf (also not guaranteed). And the sunsets…beyond words. You have to ask yourself: why go anywhere else? The owners are awesome, the property meticulously taken care of, with bikes and private parking, and full kitchen. The owners are literally letting you into their home and are extremely attentive without being intrusive (let us know to call at any time, no matter how small). This is no skimpy setup. Note that the there is not a lot of shade on the balcony during midday (fixed with a beach umbrella), but honestly, sitting at the dinning room table with the sliding door open: the whole first floor becomes your balcony with plenty of shade, view, and breeze. The hip and/or fine eateries of Abbot Kinney, Venice, and beyond (e.g., Culver City) are just 15 min away. Although delivery is suggested: why leave when you can dine on the western edge of the continent, gazing out through floor to ceiling windows? Some other details: not really for kids or large parties. The main bed sleeps two and there is a comfy futon in the second smaller bedroom that could do two too. As a romantic getaway for a couple or as a blessedly peaceful break for a singleton, it's beyond ideal. For a laid back girls or guys weekend, it would work too as long as you don't mind sharing a bed. Quiet too: LAX is far enough away to the south that the planes sound like a car passing far in the distance, generally unheard under the sigh of wind and wave. We will be back."

  • Great Place!

"We (two couples) stayed at Howard's End for a long weekend while in LA for the Northern Trust Golf Tournament up at Riviera. Everything was perfect. The house is quite comfortable and very clean, located just a mile from Venice Beach. We walked to a couple of great spots for dinner and were surprised how quiet the neighborhood is given its proximity to the main street to the beach. The owner Ross was also very helpful and responsive during the set up process. We didn't have any issues and he promptly returned our cleaning deposit. Thanks Ross for being such a great host!"

  • PERFECT Venice Beach Location!!! (This is our new vacation lodging whenever we're in town)

"My sister and I had a girls trip planned and did not have a rental car. Many local friends mentioned what a GREAT location we were in and we couldn't agree more! We rented the bungalow in the back, utilized the bikes for evening boardwalk cruising and the short trip up to Santa Monica, walked 2 blocks over to Abbott Kinney and used the Starline Tour bus (which Carmen mentioned to us) to hitch a ride into LA and do the touristy thing for 2 days. The beach is literally 3-4 blocks from the house!! The bungalows are close and with everyone's windows open you can hear others moving about but everyone was always respectful of the time of day and friendly in passing. Carmen has thought of everything! Don't worry about packing beach towels, hair dryers, etc...she even had an ironing board. She lives just down the street and was readily available to us if we had any questions. Carmen was ever so helpful and went above and beyond, down to offering us a ride to the airport as she would be headed that way to pick up her sister on the same day as our departure. I can't say enough about the wonderful experience we had at this lit'l bungalow. We will ABSOLUTELY be keeping in touch with Carmen to stay here again!"

  • great place great location

"The organisation of the property was very easy and stress free, and I always received a prompt response when making a request. The place itself is ideal for solo or couple travellers. It is a nice as the pictures present, is fully equipped and is near to Venice and Santa Monica which was fantastic for my wife and I, it is also easy to access the other major area, downtown and entertainment areas and Hollywood, Beverly hills and the street had parking a plenty which saved a lot of hassle compared to other places I have stayed I would highly recommend staying here and when I return I will again be calling upon the services of Yuwen and this charming little studio.!"
