  • Loved the view and the kitchen

"A lovely property with a wonderful view of the ocean and surrounding shoreline! The grounds were pristine, and so was the house. We are all very tall people. The master bedroom was awesome. However the other two bedrooms had extremely comfortable mattresses, but the beds were only double sized. So several of our number had feet hanging over the edge of the bed. Would not recommend this property for 3 adult couples of more than average height. The only other slight criticism I could offer is that there is really no comfortable place in the house to sit and read after dark that has enough light for old eyes--like mine--to see well. A taller lamp by the sofa would be welcome. All in all, though, it was great. As I said, the kitchen was wonderful--best equipped of any VRBO home I have ever stayed in. The owners were gracious, helpful, and accommodating. Thank you for a lovely Christmas."

  • Good stay for the money

"We enjoyed our 10 day stay in this redwoods cabin. It was a great venue from which to access the southern Oregon coastal towns and the beautiful parks and scenic drives in northern California. The hosts are very nice and good sources of local knowledge, and they are very responsive by email. They do live right next door to the cottage/garage combination, but they are unobtrusive.
The cottage is generally well-supplied, but I felt like some details were missed, i.e., very little hand soap, only 1 dish towel, etc. The items mentioned in a previous review - slats missing from the window shade and mildew on the bathroom ceiling - had not been corrected. The oven, microwave, top of the refrigerator and some pans were dirty. There were mouse traps in 2 of the empty cabinets - apparently not used, but not welcoming either. There is a washer and dryer to use, but there is no clean surface to put clothes as you remove them from the dryer. Despite these issues though, the cabin is a good deal for the money if these "details" don’t deter you."

  • Very enjoyable experience

"We stayed at Playa Linda recently for Thanksgiving week. What I really appreciated was the extra service provided by the owners, and the overall cleanliness and the extremely well stocked kitchen. Even had some spices and basic condiments available. Having to buy pepper and salt, cook with 2-3 basic pans and most of all having to CLEAN the home after staying have always been sore spots for me; HERE none of that is true. I even emailed the owner Linda and asked about their wine cooler. She said help yourself. Some of the wines have their own name on the bottles, and I understand they were very enjoyable (I don't drink). The one downstairs bedroom does receive noise from the bedroom directly above it, as there is NO insulation under the floor of the upstairs bedroom. That would be the only thing I would criticize. It might be worth fixing. I really appreciated the accommodating welcoming spirit of the home and it's owners. To those who would take issue with small things, I would suggest trying a stay in one of the homes offered by some of the biggest agencies at Sea Ranch. When you can't do basic cooking and have to do your own maid service before you leave you will appreciate an owner who bothers to stock their kitchen (with wine even) and has a cleaning service hired for you as part of the rental. Nice views from most rooms. There is a fireplace in the main living area facing the ocean, so if you must have a full on panoramic view of the ocean you might look elsewhere. I found there was plenty of open window views of the ocean and meadows. It was quite refreshing and peaceful, as Sea Ranch is meant to be. BTW it is also quite close to Gualala for those quick shopping trips. The outdoor area is well fenced for security for smaller children. We found the media to work fine. My bed was extremely comfortable (downstairs). It felt like the others were comfortable and well stocked with linens and warm comforters. There is a telescope in the loft on the mezzanine. Don't know about a Girls getaway. I'm not a girl (woman). Seems like it would be well appointed for that purpose. If you didn't have a car, you would have to find a way to get to town or be sure to bring your own groceries when you arrive. If you wanted to bike to town it would be close enough to do that. Lots of nice walks through the meadow and close to the beach and bluff walks."
