  • Great Family Retreat

"Our family of five was really happy here for 2 nights. The outdoor swing and fire-pit were a great addition to help entertain the kids. Quiet, private location perfect for a break from our city-life. LOVED having a washer and dryer available for use. Managers were very helpful with a couple of questions we had. Also loved finding a home that does not allow pets, as we all have pet allergies. A non-smoking home was also a big plus."

  • A Rare Gem

"My boyfriend and I (with our dog) came through town on business and spent two nights at this perfect little cottage. We didn't want to leave! It is a magical mix of old and new, with beautiful operable antiques everywhere and modern amenities. The cozy living room is very relaxing with an old leather couch and a wood stove and lots of interesting books. It opens to an adjacent room that is set up totally for children with creative nooks and art materials galore. Kids would love it. There is an outdoor shower and (my personal favorite) a deep, clawfoot bathtub. Upstairs, there are two queen beds with luxurious linens and beautiful roll-out windows that make for a sweet cross breeze and let in the sound of crashing waves. We barbecued on the back porch and watched the sun set into the ocean. While I could not make the hike down to the water directly from the backyard it was no problem for my boyfriend and the dog, and there is a gentler, sloping route to the water that is a public-access path within walking distance. The owner is an artist and historian and his artwork as well as the books and literature about the history of Mendocino County made us feel as though we had stepped back in time. Almost cathartic. We would go back in a heartbeat."

  • Girls weekend!

"Amazing views from all windows! We were lucky and had beautiful sunny days that enhanced the views. We even saw a few whales from the living room windows! This is more of a rustic rental as described, but the location on the point is breathtaking. Appliances are older & not all burners on the stove worked, but 2 were enough for our purposes. Would be nice to have shower curtains instead of old hard plastic folding doors. Plenty of firewood for the nice large stone fireplace made for cozy evenings. Great get-away!"

  • Family vacation

"Modern 'cabin' home on Smith River, lovely back yard with easy river access. Well stocked kitchen, and amenities included. Easy access to great hikes. Everything was sparkling clean, and the owners were incredibly helpful. The area does not have great restaurant options, but we ate at home and were very happy with that."
