Wonderful Retreat Near the Ocean - Close to Parks, Beaches & Town
"My boyfriend and I were lucky to get a last-minute booking for the holiday weekend and everything about the Cottages and their staff was wonderful. Everyone was extremely friendly and returned messages quickly when we were booking our stay. The cottages themselves are lovely and very close to everything - state parks / botanical garden, beaches, town (Albion, Mendocino, and Ft. Bragg, etc.) were all just a short drive away. The cottages are clean and newly constructed, come with gas fireplace and full-kitchenette, and offer very comfy couches and beds for relaxing in after a long hike, kayak trip or bike ride! The facilities are pet-friendly, kid/family-friendly, and the owners have done a lot to make the entire operation green and eco-friendly. There is also flat-screen TV/DVD/cable and Wifi, but our internet access was a little spotty during our stay (not that we really minded since we wanted to get away from our electronics for the holiday!).
We stayed in the Gualala Cottage and enjoyed a view of the ocean from our deck. You can tell the owners and staff put a lot of thought and attention into the details, which made the cottage very inviting and us feel welcomed (welcome notes on the table waiting for us on arrival, binoculars for bird watching, luxury soaps and lotion in the bathroom, full-sets of knives/cooking utensils/flatware/plates/cups/pots & pans, public firepit and bbq grill with the best ocean view on the grounds, etc.).
There are a total of 10 standalone cottages on the grounds and they all surround a common garden/lawn area, where we could easily see the other guests playing with their children and pets and they could easily see us through the cottage windows and deck doors(!). These encounters didn't last for very long, but it was the only thing we felt might be slightly distracting for anyone looking for more a more secluded getaway.
Thanks for a wonderful stay, we can't wait to come back! My boyfriend's family are coming to visit in November and we're already thinking about booking the large cottage (sleeps 6-people) with the private hot tub!"

"End of March 2015. I don't need much to be happy at the beach, but I just spent a fantastic weekend at the very comfortable Tideaway and loved every minute. You almost have to tear yourself away from the views and the whales...but daytrips to headlands at Russian Gulch, MacKerricher, Jughandle and Pt Cabrillo headlands include more great views and whales with wildflowers...notably deep purple Delphinium and rampant Wild Cucumber this trip. We cooked several meals in the well-appointed kitchen and slept soundly to the rhythmic Pacific soundtrack. Also LOVED the new FB bakery, A Sweet Affair, whose proprietress is creating authentic and delicious french pastry art. Roundman for meats and Harvest Market (gets more upscale every time we visit) are also required shopping stops. Miss the place already. Planning a return while the Spring "sunny season" is with us. Tideaway is as good as it gets. Go. You won't be sorry."

Amazing Views, Executive Quality Home, Excellent Condition, Wonderfully Appointed & Great Owners Too
"Our party of 6 adults spent an amazing Memorial Day weekend at this home and it was truly one of the best vacations rentals we have ever stayed at (and we have stayed at over 35 in California and over 90 worldwide). The views were outstanding and the location was perfect (many homes exaggerate their views in photos but I will agree that the views at this home are even better than the photos - very rare!) The master bedroom and bath were truly exquisite and the 2nd master was also nicely appointed (note the bathroom for the 3rd bedroom is not en-suite, but just one door down and easily accessible to the 3rd bedroom). The outdoor deck and grill were sizeable, sunny and offered more terrific views (I believe the grill was replaced after another guest's comment) and offered a great space to sunbathe and socialize. There is a huge dining room table with spectacular views that is perfect all year round, plus a large downstairs entertainment area with fully equipped laundry room and attached 4th bath (very convenient when watching TV or playing games downstairs). Very close by to restaurants and ample grocery shopping, plus local beaches. Truly wonderful owners and a very stress free experience - We will definitely be back. Please note that there is a fairly steep driveway and several sets of stairs - just something to keep in mind for access purposes!"

"Our family of five was really happy here for 2 nights. The outdoor swing and fire-pit were a great addition to help entertain the kids. Quiet, private location perfect for a break from our city-life. LOVED having a washer and dryer available for use. Managers were very helpful with a couple of questions we had. Also loved finding a home that does not allow pets, as we all have pet allergies. A non-smoking home was also a big plus."
