  • much needed family time!

"We had three wonderful nights and days here. The home was well kept, nice kitchen to cook in with all the gadgets needed! Beautiful view from the house, inside and out. Loved the fire pit by the cliffs, watching the sea lions, porpoise, whales, birds, the list goes on. We felt relaxed the minute we got there. Super close to Mendocino, hiking, Fort Bragg, the beach. We would love to have had another few days there. Will be back for sure!!!! The owners were lovely to work with. Can't say enough positive things about the whole rental. The only suggestion we have is to put a more cozy couch- like an L shape that you can really sink into. The current couch is not very cozy or comfortable."

  • A perfect choice for a Mendocino vacation

"My family and I highly recommend Blue Heron. We were a party of five adults, with a sixth joining us for two nights of our one-week stay, and Blue Heron offered everything we needed to have a wonderful time together. The house is even larger and more beautiful than the pictures indicate. For instance, there is a large dining room table in the living area at which we could work on a big puzzle at one end and sit together for meals at the other. There was also seating at the island in the kitchen area for more casual chatting over our morning coffee. The kitchen is beautifully appointed and organized, so many of us could comfortably cook together (hint: Safeway in Fort Bragg is close and excellent for groceries). Another huge plus was the ample leisure seating—there were sofas in cozy areas, a huge sofa in front of the picture windows, and a sofa near the fire. Everyone always had a place to sprawl and read or talk together. My daughter and her husband enjoyed their private bath and bedroom; my husband and I loved the master suite with its own big windows and balcony access, a walk-in closet, and a bathroom that included a Jacuzzi and gas fireplace! My bachelor son claimed the downstairs bedroom and bathroom. And my six-foot plus brother claimed that he was perfectly comfortable on one of the two (full) futons in the game room for the two nights when he came to stay with us. Another plus was the hot tub, wonderful for relaxing in the evening while watching the sunset. Of course, Blue Heron is convenient to everything. We loved Russian Gulch, which is right next door. In fact, on the last morning, my husband went there for a fast goodbye to its magnificent landscape and ocean views and saw not one but two whales breech! A grand conclusion to a grand vacation. Thank you, Saundra and Eric. And thank you for your very prompt responses to our few questions, before, during, and after our stay."

  • A breathtaking view and lots of space

"It was a perfect combination of beautiful view and plenty of space for four familes to stay together. With one family with a 5-month old baby and another with 2 kids, the space was large enough to keep us comfortable. The beds were great and we were all comfortable. The furniture in the living room was very comfortable as well. The dining table held all 8 of us. I lloved the swivel chairs that allowed us to look out the window or watch TV or visit. The hot tub and fire pit and nice bonus. We saw seals playing in the ocean in front of the house. We also saw whales and dolphins at Pt. Cabrillo just down the road. This house takes every advantage of the beutiful 180 degree plus view and wrap around deck. It was the perfect setting for our family getaway and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook and enjoy great meals. I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed."

  • Edge of the Sea

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall the house was wonderful. The location, view, and outdoor spaces were spectacular. The covered deck made for perfect outdoor dining. There are a couple of kitchen essentials that were expected in a house like this: a good chef's knife, a large, clean (not flaking) saute pan, fully functioning range with directions for operation. I would recommend that someone go through the kitchen and do a thorough updating of the inventory. For instance, several glasses in the cupboard were cracked."
