  • Completely lovely home in a perfect setting

"My husband and I recently spent five wonderful days at The Sea Ranch and were very reluctant to leave. This home met and exceeded our expectations and we couldn't have been happier with it. It was clean, comfortable and very well appointed. It is situated so as to feel very private and to take full advantage of its sunny location. We loved enjoying our morning coffee in the comfortable Adirondack chairs on the sunny deck, looking out toward the ocean (and spouting whales!). The grill and hot tub were much appreciated, the bed was comfortable, and the bathrooms (and the house, as a whole) were spacious and light-filled. All in all, it was a perfect location for some much-needed rest and relaxation. We can't wait to go back."

  • We were just swept away by the beauty here!

"We had two families that stayed in this gorgeous home. Our only problem was that we were there too short of a time (just three nights)! The home has wonderful character and the views from each room just swept us away! Also, even though there were seven of us there was lots of space for together time and plenty of break out space for privacy as well. We had a pianist in the group so it was incredible being able to listen to some beautiful music while taking in some of the loveliest coastline in all of California. We also really enjoyed being able to barbecue on the huge deck. Unlike many rental homes we have stayed in before (including others at Sea Ranch) this is very obviously a family home that has been loved and well-taken care of. Everything about our stay was just perfect. John was great with communication (terrific suggestions on restaurants and other things to do!) and willing to go the extra mile to make sure we felt cared for. One of John’s tips that I have to pass on was his suggestion to take in a performance at the Gualala Arts Center: a multi-million-dollar cultural facility and an amazing addition to the charming town of Gualala. They have some really interesting art exhibitions and some performing arts events as well. We can’t wait to come back to Vista Del Mar!"

  • Wonderful Christmas week stay

"My wife and Irish setter and I are here for 4 months undertaking our annual gray whale research and census project. We drove from Maine and were in need of some Sea Ranch tranquility. We stayed for nearly a week while waiting for our longterm rental in Irish Beach. We had considered Breakaway in past visits to the Mendonoma Coast, but it was not available. The home is very comfortable an laid out in an interesting yet very functional and comfortable way. Peter, the owner had told me he had a Danish (I think I have that correct) architect. Well, the architect had great imagination. We loved it. Its the architecture that makes TSR so interesting and often adds to the beauty. We had Christmas here and my wife very easily cooked a 17 pound turkey and everything else in the kitchen It only looks small. Its very functional. (We had turkey the remainder of the stay as well.) We began our whale census while here and had easy walks down to the bluff to count gray whales as well as sea lions and harbor seals. We did not see whales from the upstairs bedroom, but could have. In the summer I am sure humpback whales can be seen from up top. We did not have any occassion to us the downstairs bedroom other than to check it out upon arrival, but it is very lovely and looks extremely comfortable. The same with the hot tub area. Pete was quick to address any issues and made suggestions. I had a glitch with VRBO, Peter called me from his home, and together we got us booked. Great touch. They have a fantastic sat tv package btw in a very comfortable tv room. I kind of lived in there reading and watching tv when we were not out in the field. There is a house close, as is often typical at TSR. The people seem to be full time residents and are extremely quiet. So don't let that deter you at all. We took terrific walks at night with Bob our dog. Many of the homes were decorated for Christmas and looked beautiful. I recommend their home highly. We just have a really warm memory of that week there."

  • Perfect Fit

"Our family of 3 humans plus large mutt took full advantage of Keith's house and environs. Every morning after coffee, we explored nearby trails and looked for the sheep herd while our teen slept. The days consisted of longer hikes, seal pup gazing, wildflower photos, swimming at an outdoor heated pool, reading on the deck, golf, yoga class, napping, and grazing on food in the well appointed kitchen. After dinner, we'd catch the sunset on a post-meal stroll along the Bluff Trail, watch movies (amazing house collection), read, and hop in the hot tub to star gaze. We'd never stayed so far south at Sea Ranch and loved exploring new neighborhoods and trails. Would love to rent from Keith again."
