  • Great family vacation home

"Our family of 6 stayed here recently, and would definitely recommend this home to other families. The location is secluded, so at night there is no traffic noise and we had fun looking at stars in the front yard. The kids loved exploring, even if we came home with an unexpected souvenir (some poison oak...our fault entirely!). We loved exploring Moonstone Beach and Agate Beach, and were able to do some surfing at Moonstone. I recommend checking out a Humboldt Crabs baseball game if you get a chance. House owners were easy to work with and very friendly. House itself is well appointed, comfortable, and clean. My only recommendation is that families with small children mind the latter going to the loft in the upstairs rental, as it may be too steep for some children. We have 4 kids, and basically had to keep the 3 year old from going upstairs. But no complaints. We will rent this house again and bring friends next time."

  • Beautiful house, perfect setting

"This house is exceptional - situated on the top of a bluff overlooking the ocean, it is breathtaking yet extremely comfortable. You couldn't ask for a better way to end a day of sightseeing than sitting in the hot tub looking out at the incredible view. The fireplace was welcome on the first evening when the fog rolled in and the living room was very cozy. The two ocean side bedrooms are bright and spacious with great views and the beds are unbelievably comfortable. The kitchen is very well-stocked and the house is full of personal touches that make it feel more like a home than a rental property. The owner, Seamus, was very accessible and helpful and responded immediately when we had questions. Although there are neighboring houses, the house is very private. The town of Elk is small but charming, and I highly recommend Queenie's for exceptional burgers. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay and would definitely recommend this house wholeheartedly. We look forward to returning soon."

  • Very clean, cute place in an excellent location.

"My daughter and I stayed two nights at the Parkside Cottage. We were greeting by the owner upon arrival. He was kind, and took the time to get us acquainted with the accommodations. Parkside Cottage exceeded my expectations. The housekeeper for the Parkside Cottage does a nice job. It was very clean. The location is within walking distance to downtown. We had a nice stay. Thank you very much!"

  • A wonderful family experience

"We had 7 people staying at Villa-Mer and it was spacious, comfortable and relaxing. The kitchen was beautiful, lots of counterspace, having a washer/dryer was very handy. The hot tub was so nice and had a great view. Perhaps the best view was from the living room and deck. Sunsets were a highlight of the day. We saw deer almost every morning. The private beach area was also very nice. One thing that was particularly great for us, was that two of our people were disabled and having two rooms without any stairs was particularly wonderful. The main floor was particularly nice for wheelchairs - no problem moving around. The stairs that go downstairs are a bit steep, but no problem for people without any mobility issues. The owner was a pleasure to work with, very easy and pleasant. I would definitely return to Villa Mer."
