  • A Forest Mansion

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: To say this was a nice house, an enjoyable stay, a pleasant experience, or memorable is a complete understatement to the immense peace I had staying here. Upon I arrival, I couldn't help but notice how well stocked the bathrooms and kitchen was. I immediately felt at home. There was even salt and pepper, olive oil, coffee filters, and wine glasses!! The location was perfect. It was just a stroll to the market for breakfast burrito ingredients, yet shrouded in the forest from all surroundings. I loved the layout, as well. Lots of privacy for the couples and friends who stayed here, yet lots of room for eating together or watching a movie. The pool table and bonus room was a huge hit. I can't help but mention that the wifi is super strong, the jacuzzi was perfectly heated, the beds and couches were crazy cozy, the patio was legit. There were speakers in the kitchen that even went out to the patio. When I arrived, I didn't receive the code to the guest house and the manager got back to me within minutes to inform me. She was so nice! :) Everything was spectacularly maintained, and it was rustic and charming at the same time. I loved the new floors, they were beautiful. You guys did a great job!! We spent a lot of time on the beach, within the forest, and in the jacuzzi. I can't wait to come back for years to come. Thank you so much for being so welcoming and hospitable. I don't often leave reviews, but can go on . about the most amazing vacation I've ever had."

  • Great location for all activities

"My husband and I stayed here for a week, August 2014. Definitely the best house in the neighborhood. Close to all that we wanted to do- hiking, walking, sightseeing, relaxing. There are actually 2 bathrooms and a laundry room. The owners have lovingly updated the home. The yard is quite spacious, though we were too busy to spend much time out there."

  • Perfect Writer's Retreat

"I came here for 10 days in February to finish a writing project I was working on. I couldn't have chosen a more perfect, serene spot. First, let me say Caspar Cottage is absolutely enchanting. Set in the pygmy forest just east of Mendocino, it's beautifully designed, solidly built and tastefully decorated. Very cozy, too, even on cold days, with the Franklin-stove-like heater. It's small but it had everything I needed and I liked that it was snug. I would like to come back someday with my husband--it has all the makings of a romantic getaway. For my purposes it was ideal: no distractions and, with limited cell service, that included phone calls. The wireless works perfectly - a bonus - so I never felt totally isolated. The owners, Diane and Bob, live on the property and are available if you have any questions. They're lovely people and very gracious. I will definitely be back! Note: While initially I thought I might like a rental with ocean views, I came to realize during my stay that Caspar Cottage was vastly preferable because on days when it's foggy along the coast (which is often in Mendocino) it was sunny in the pygmy forest."

  • Lemon Tree Cottage not a lemon!

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This cozy cottage was perfect for our first time visiting Humboldt County. Loved the attention to cheerful "cottage" details and thoughtful touches. Bring a fitted sheet if you don't like the bottom sheet coming undone."
