  • Wonderful Christmas week stay

"My wife and Irish setter and I are here for 4 months undertaking our annual gray whale research and census project. We drove from Maine and were in need of some Sea Ranch tranquility. We stayed for nearly a week while waiting for our longterm rental in Irish Beach. We had considered Breakaway in past visits to the Mendonoma Coast, but it was not available. The home is very comfortable an laid out in an interesting yet very functional and comfortable way. Peter, the owner had told me he had a Danish (I think I have that correct) architect. Well, the architect had great imagination. We loved it. Its the architecture that makes TSR so interesting and often adds to the beauty. We had Christmas here and my wife very easily cooked a 17 pound turkey and everything else in the kitchen It only looks small. Its very functional. (We had turkey the remainder of the stay as well.) We began our whale census while here and had easy walks down to the bluff to count gray whales as well as sea lions and harbor seals. We did not see whales from the upstairs bedroom, but could have. In the summer I am sure humpback whales can be seen from up top. We did not have any occassion to us the downstairs bedroom other than to check it out upon arrival, but it is very lovely and looks extremely comfortable. The same with the hot tub area. Pete was quick to address any issues and made suggestions. I had a glitch with VRBO, Peter called me from his home, and together we got us booked. Great touch. They have a fantastic sat tv package btw in a very comfortable tv room. I kind of lived in there reading and watching tv when we were not out in the field. There is a house close, as is often typical at TSR. The people seem to be full time residents and are extremely quiet. So don't let that deter you at all. We took terrific walks at night with Bob our dog. Many of the homes were decorated for Christmas and looked beautiful. I recommend their home highly. We just have a really warm memory of that week there."

  • Beautiful Peaceful Home

"This was our favorite place of all on our 17 day trip. It was gorgeous and so wonderful for us and our 3 dogs. Very safely fenced, and gorgeous setting amongst the redwoods. It was so private and peaceful. We could have spent our entire time in the back yard. This home is in a regular, quiet neighborhood, but once your car was inside their privately fenced property---you felt that you were totally in the country or a park. Gorgeous!! Very clean home, very responsive owners and perfect for a vacation getaway. Very safe for the dogs and easy cleaning. Loved it. Thank you for sharing this beautiful place. We enjoyed it immensely. Judy, Carol and dogs:(Sage, Maggie and Nika)."

  • Private and Cozy

"My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights at the Cedar House. We had a great experience and I was really pleased that I chose this place for our getaway. We loved the privacy and the feeling that there was nobody around. The place exceeded my expectations. There was plenty of firewood to keep the place cozy and the kitchen had everything that we needed to prepare our meals. The wifi was pretty important to us as our ATT cell phones didn't really work well there. It was strong a solid for our entire stay. We spent most of our time hiking and mountain biking in the redwood forests at Russian Gulch. That has been our favorite mountain bike trip so far. It was GREAT to come back and sit in the hot tub after a long day playing in the forest. Shirl was responsive and easy to work with. If you choose this place you will not be sorry."
