  • Great Visit!

"Truly enjoyed our visit to this home. It was perfect for us as we were looking for a quiet, secluded spot very near the redwoods. We didn't want to drive a long distance to see the trees so this was perfect as it was just minutes away. The house is very rustic with old appliances but we like that. There is nothing fancy here and definitely no mold smells (mentioned in an earlier review). Just a quiet location with a great view and all the basics. We enjoyed the hot tub and the scenery the most. We would come back again!"

  • Off the beaten path

"We drove to Arcata to spend New Years with our goddaughters. We traveled with their mom and needed a place that would be comfortable for the three of us. Krista's chalet was perfect. Very comfortable. Well provisioned. Our stay there was delightful. As a bonus it was a wonderful gathering place for us all to eat pizza and play games. Here's a few suggestions for future renters: * Don't arrive at night. If you're not familiar with the area, the property is hard to find. The passage under the freeway thru a culvert, the imposing gate, the narrow winding dirt road, the misleading left turn... it was like something out of a 'B' horror movie, except with a happy ending. * The imposing gate looks like it's locked, but it's not. Just push it open. * We had the downstairs apartment and were a bit unlucky a couple nights since the upstairs guest had a 7-year-old who was learning to jump rope. The upstairs noise was more than a little distracting. Fortunately he went to bed early. * There was not really enough towels or blankets. You might think of bringing some extras. * There's no broadcast TV, but there is a DVD. Consider bringing a couple of your favorite movies. Our issues were all very minor. If our goddaughter doesn't graduate soon, we'd love to rent the chalet again next year. Highly recommended!"

  • perfect weekend getaway

"Our family of 4 decided to go on a last minute trip to Mendocino for Easter. We enjoyed everything about our stay at Casa Canon. The place is immaculately clean, nicely designed, cozy and comfortable. There is an adjacent unit, but we didn't see or hear anyone there all weekend, so we fully enjoyed the silence. The view is breathtaking. Getting to play on the private beach - one of the most gorgeous ones on the CA coast - was an added bonus. We highly recommend this place and hope to be back soon."
