Perfect for our family gathering
"750 Pacific Coast Hwy in gorgeous energized Laguna Beach was sublime. All the women in my family gathered to celebrate my birthday. What was appreciated was that everyone had a private place to sleep, their own bathroom, plenty of space, and every amenity imaginable, including a fabulous salon downstairs. The rental agent provided me the name of an incredible photographer who took our photos at sunset on the beach across the street. Who could ask for more? We LOVED the big dining table so we could all gather and talk into the night. We walked everywhere because the choices are endless. The noise from the PCH takes some adjustment. but it is easily ignored when everyone is having fun. Otherwise, the owners and agent were the nicest people I've ever dealt with in this kind of transaction. They were happy to accommodate and provide whatever we needed. Definitely recommend it."

"We rented this luxurious villa for an extended vacation for our family and were delighted with everything about it. The spaciousness and privacy of the whole property was immediately impressive with the lovely front lawn and patio for relaxing quietly, the beautiful large pool and terrace where we relaxed over lunch most days and the equally spacious and beautifully decorated internal accommodation - the large family TV den was our favourite room. The furnishing throughout were high quality and extremely comfortable and everything was provided for a wonderful stay, including stacks of luxurious towels & bed linen and a wonderful laundry facility. Whilst extremely private, the views from the terrace of the large master bedroom suite were spectacular and the location was only just off the Pacific Coast Highway and therefore very convenient for the ocean, several beaches and many restaurants, both within walking distance and a short drive away in Laguna Beach itself. Amazingly the Laguna trolley bus stops just one block away (50 yds) around the corner. The location also meant it is very convenient for exploring the whole south coast and the expansive and secure off-street parking/double garage at the villa was an added bonus. Our family hope to return again in the near future and we will certainly recommend the villa unreservedly to all our friends and acquaintances."

"The Retreat offers a subtle combination of features that are difficult to come by in Laguna individually. That they're combined in one location adds significant value and convenience. Foremost, The Retreat is ocean front. Rolling waves are seen and heard off the deck with pelicans, whales and dolphins swimming past. The views are exquisite. Second, it offers on-site parking. Anyone familiar with the area knows parking in town is often a nightmare. Free parking at the location makes walking to shops, restaurants and galleries very easy. Never underestimate the luxury of strolling through a crowded beach town while everyone else is stuck on PCH. Finally, it is secluded and quiet. Many accommodations in Laguna are on or near busy streets where traffic noise is unavoidable. The Retreat's location on a quiet alley is remarkably peaceful given the high-density nature of beach neighborhoods.
The rooms and amenities themselves are equally impressive. Each suite is impeccably furnished in a grand style and the on-site staff is always eager to satisfy their guests' requests. They've made available sand chairs, beach towels, extra beds even toy shovels and pails for the children. In these ways it is much more like a hotel than a VRBO property. However, there's a high degree of independence the property affords. There are full kitchens with real appliances and refrigerators with ice makers and BBQ grills. There is no turn-down service or daily maid services but one can request additional cleaning for a fee. Frankly, I rather prefer not to have a cleaning staff in every day nosing around my things or asking me when I plan to leave so they might return.
In essence The Retreat is perhaps the very best vacation stay in Laguna! Book early."

"Me and my fiancee rented this cottage with our parents to enjoy a nice time together before getting married. It was the perfect fit. Wire cottage definitely has beautiful simplistic rustic charm and is spacious. Located in a slightly secluded property (because of trees surrounding property) in a quiet neighborhood, this is ideal for privacy and relaxation. The cottage is very close to the beach, five minute walk or less. Also, there is a supermarket just down the street. Laguna is a great place to stay if you are interested in art. There are numerous galleries along the streets and in downtown. It is about a 2-5 min drive downtown, and maybe around 20 minutes to walk depending on speed. There are a lot of nice beaches to go to in the surrounding area. Laguna has a nice relaxed vibe but is also vibrant and busy on weekends. The cottage itself: the kitchen was well equipped and even had extra seasoning available to use. The deck is awesome----> good weather, nice views, and a bbq:) The shower was great. Hot water worked well. No problems with any amenities and had everything you probably will need. There was a wi-fi code. The lock box for the keys was easy and convenient. We really did not need to contact the property manager or owner during the stay. If you like privacy and a low-key place that is like your own for a fair price then this is def. the place to come. Also as a plus, it was cool to see the before photos on the wall of when the cottage was the only building built on the surrounding land. Also, nice to see the original owner's photos on the wall. They even have an unpublished manuscript copy of one of Mr. Wire's works. I love books and was happy this was a originally a writer's cottage so this was an added charm for me. My entire family enjoyed their stay. We would definitely stay again if given the opportunity and would recommend it as a place to stay to our family and friends."
