  • Perfect Beach Cottage on Balboas Island

"Our stay at this water front home was perfect for my husband and I. We loved being on the canal and close to the bridge to walk over to all the restaurants and shops. We spent most of our afternoons sitting on the very large patio with a glass of wine watching the sun going down. We really enjoyed using the kayaks right off the dock. We used the bikes and took the ferry over to the ocean board walk and biked for miles. This beach home is equipped with everything you would need for a vacation, including a washer and dryer and garage. I loved the decor showing what Balboa Island was like in the 20's. We have been coming to Balboa Island for many years, as we used to live in the Newport Beach area. Renting on Balboa Island is one of our favorite vacations, and this was the best home we have rented on the Island!"

  • Lovely Island Vacation

"We rented this wonderful historic beach home on the island this summer for the first time. It has a huge backyard that has a funky Hawaiian feel to it with palm trees, lemon and lime trees. The grill is big and new and there is a sand area for kids to play in while you barbecue and have fun. It was terrific for the 4th of July. We loved it. It has been well kept for an older home and everything is clean and the fans are fantastic and very quiet. We have been coming to the island for 50 years so we have a deep love for it. This home just fits the feel of the old Balboa. We will definitely be renting again because the price is right for this home which is just a couple of houses done from the north bay front beach. And situated a couple of streets over from the Main Street with its restaurants made it a perfect place. Especially when you have a craving for a balboa bar at night before walking the island. The owner is just great to work with."

  • Felt like home, but in the middle of paradise

"We just returned from a one week stay in Balboa and this place gave us everything we needed for a great trip. The location is fantastic, right down from the ferry and close to the bay and the accommodations were perfect. Mind you, this is not a luxury mansion, but a great family beach house that felt like home. I've been to a lot of rentals where you are almost afraid to stay for fear of not getting your deposit back, but not here. The kids loved having there own floor downstairs and the living area gave us plenty of space to stretch out and relax after long bike rides, swims and paddle boarding. I would highly recommend this house for families that are looking to have a home base while exploring all that Newport has to offer. We only took the car out one time during the week we were there as the location gives you great access to both the island and the peninsula. The only thing I will warn about is that the outside living space is small and there is no frontage (this is the back unit of the house), but if you've been to Balboa you know that often the back house is the better and this is the case here, just realize you won't be sitting out front drinking a glass of wine people watching. You'll have to walk a couple of houses down to the water front to do that :>."
