Quiet and peaceful with tons of charm
"my wife and I with two kids, age 6 & 9, enjoyed this space for four nights. The owners greeted us upon arrival and showed us the unit to ensure we had our questions answered. Both were very friendly. They reside in the space above the unit. We never felt like they were there. The unit has its own entrance so we never saw them after the initial greeting.
The space has everything one could need to enjoy a beach getaway. I would give the location a walkability score of 85. The pier and beach is two blocks. Restaurants and shops are a 15 min walk. The space provided beach chairs, towels, etc...
Our kids enjoyed sleeping on the air mattress and being in the main living area. We enjoyed having the bedroom down the hall and away from the living space.
We found the unit to be relaxing with its canyon/ocean view and outside patios. We had some quests over and barbecued on the outside patio. It was great and made us feel like we were in our own space.
We plan to return again next summer."

"Can I just say that being able to walk to the village and the beaches is a big plus in my book?! The cool San Clemente Coastal trail is just minutes from Casa Mira Mar as is my new favorite restaurant. We liked having the Jacuzzi in the back courtyard tho’ we didn’t use it—too much else to do. But when we return with the little ones, the jacuzzi is a pool their size and a perfect introduction before we take them with their older cousin to play in the ocean just down the street. We liked the separate living/socializing spaces. For a relatively small home, our group had privacy when we wanted it and common areas for gathering. Different places to eat (three outside and one in) and two different rooms for TV watching added to the versatility of this vacation home. But the sweeeeet history and architecture of this old “Ole” was the icing on the cake for us. Yep, we're going to return."

"This place is awesome. We were trying to plan a last minute getaway for 2 adults and 5 kids right before going back to school and we were very fortunate to find the listing on vrbo and the WesternWhiteHousessc web site. We spoke with Colby , the owner, and he'd just had a cancelation. We can't say enough about this experience and this property the pictures speak for themselves. What I can say that the pictures won't is that the family that owns this place is incredible. Colby was incredibile and accommodating -- the answer to all of our questions throughout the stay about where to eat what to do and a couple little items at the house they were easily explained. Colby came a couple times to service the pool and the gardening and one day even stopped by with wine and flowers to welcome us to his home.
The view is incredible and the backyard is like your own little private paradise. The front yard is perfect for coffee and reading the newspaper (yes I still read my newspaper) and the neighbors are extremely friendly in a very upscale neighbor. The newest neighbor is the owner of SKULL CANDY and I'm fairly sure my children have spent enough with his company to help pay for his 3 million dollar home. The pool/spa/water-slide/waterfall combo was such a great time for all that even the adults couldn't stay out of the pool. There's a big built in bbq/countertop in the back yard, and a large open kitchen that we took advantage of daily and a brand new portable BBQ as back up or you could different types of meat on."

"If you are visiting San Clemente, this rental property is a must! If you truly want to experience SC and all its beauty, this rental is the place. Close to the pier bowl area, shops, surfing, and/or a nice stroll along the paths down by the water. I grew up in San Clemente and moved away 15 years ago, I did not know this view existed, even my friends and family that came by to visit had no idea this property had this view. It is incredible, you can see the pier and Dana Point. Sitting outside at night listening to the waves and sipping a glass of wine is a must. I would have to say this is by far one of the best, if not the best views in San Clemente. The rental itself is nice, hard wood floors, spacious bedrooms, we had 2 small children and the bedroom is close to the master, so it worked out great. The owners were also very accommodating with a highchair and beach toys. The owners were also very quick to respond if we had any questions about anything and/or needed help with something. I would definitely rent again! EXCELLENT place!!"
