"Our family of 6 spent a week here over Spring Break. What a great place to be! Our four children, ages 8-15, all enjoyed this home, especially its unique lay-out, and its pool. David was very upfront about a few home improvements that were still in the works, but nothing that we couldn't easily work around. Between the loft, the assorted staircases to the many rooms, and of course the swing in the living room, it was a true departure from our routine. The kitchen was well-equipped and very large.
Though it is a very hilly neighborhood, we were able to run down to the beach--usually opting for a ride back up! The convenience of stores and restaurants and of course, hiking trails near-by was also a plus. Thank you David for a very relaxing escape."

"We have just returned from the most relaxing week ever at Tracy's beach cottage in Del Mar! From the very first contact with the owner this was the smoothest rental process ever. As for the cottage itself, my only reluctance to write this review is that it may impede my chances to rent again as surely the property is such a hidden gem it will continue to be booked more and more often. I definitely plan to rebook as often as possible! All of the other reviews are spot on. Being a less than five minute walk to the beach with no parking worries was invaluable! I set up our own little beach paradise spot each day and was welcomed by all the locals every morning. The pricing of the cottage still amazes me....having all of the beach gear - even a surfboard! - provided cuts huge costs of renting those items at the beach rental places. Grilling out in the backyard oasis was a huge treat....and the washer and dryer meant having to pack next to nothing for a one week stay. Also of note - happy hour at Poseidon just a stroll up the beach. No need to drive there and perfect place to walk before returning for another sunset. The beds could not be any more comfortable - pillows galore and such nice linens! Just really cannot say enough about this property besides I can't wait to return for another stay in paradise!"

A cozy hideaway with ambiance, personality, and convenience!
"My husband and myself spent seven days at this property and we give the owner Carol and the property the highest praise. Our expectations were fully realized starting on our arrival. You will first notice the 75 foot walk to the most gorgeous view of the Del Mar coast and the smell of the sea. We could not wait to jump out of the car and get down to the shore. We live in snow country and we had been anticipating this vacation for months. The second thrill was the exceptional taste of the owners in the decorating and the cleanliness of the home. You never know what you will find in an older home yet we were pleasantly surprised at the efforts the homeowners took to assure their guests of every convenience down to the plentiful linens, assorted towels, comfortable beds, board games, beach chairs, boogie boards, exceptional library, fully stocked kitchen, barbecue, and fresh fruit and tomatoes growing in the back patio! A special treat was how quiet the neighborhood is and neighbors wave to you as you commence your walks! The short drive to restaurants, Von's grocery, and CVS pharmacy were a real plus. We discovered the Poseidon restaurant on the Del Mar Beach and watched the surfers while sipping a cocktail. Carol was so very helpful at every stage and returned your phone calls and inquiries promptly. Look into this amazing home and you will not be disappointed! Margaret Bruner"

"The view is really good. I could see the lobster boats pull up their traps. I could watch the surfers ride and see the airplanes and helicopters buzzing along the coast. It’s great to have the kitchen, dining room, and living room on the upper level with the view.
The marble steam room is very large and elegant. My wife and I had enough room to invite our friends. The backyard has a large full kitchen with even a six-burner Wolf stove. The tropical plants are nice and koi ponds add a lot. We will be coming back here next summer."
