  • 2 family getaway

"Wonderful 1 week stay for 2 families with 4 children. Perfect location just a few homes from the bluffs leading down to the beach. Quick access via goat trail down the bluff(very manageable) or a short 4 to 5 block walk along side the train tracks. Street access is quick and easy also. The home is beautiful with all the amenities one would need for a vacation stay. The rooms are fine with a master on the second floor and 3 more bedrooms on the lower level. There is also a t.v. room that has a pull out couch. The real gem is the top floor/rooftop which has gas heaters, firepit, Jacuzzi, gas bbq., fridge, table, chairs, chaise lounge, and a spectacular view of the ocean. We spent many hours on top from morning coffee to cocktail hour to dinners to late night conversations. There is a ping pong table and access to a basketball and a couple of boogie boards. The tv/entertainment room equipment can be a little challenging to negotiate, but a call to the owner got us on the right track (thanks). Would love to come back next year, for another memorable vacation. p.s. The neighbors are really friendly too! (you would be too if you lived on this street)"

  • Best Weekend Ever

"The view is really good. I could see the lobster boats pull up their traps. I could watch the surfers ride and see the airplanes and helicopters buzzing along the coast. It’s great to have the kitchen, dining room, and living room on the upper level with the view. The marble steam room is very large and elegant. My wife and I had enough room to invite our friends. The backyard has a large full kitchen with even a six-burner Wolf stove. The tropical plants are nice and koi ponds add a lot. We will be coming back here next summer."

  • Cute and spacious

"We just finished up a 5 night stay at Dennis and Mimi's. Overall, the unit was fantastic. Dennis gave us a quick tour as soon as we arrived and even provided a stool for my two boys to use at the tall bathroom sink. He was very friendly, always waving hello and giving us tips for the area. The unit itself is very clean and well-taken care of. Both bedrooms were surprisingly spacious; the bathrooms were huge! There is a lack of dining seating inside but our two boys were happy to eat at the breakfast bar. The kitchen is small but well-equipped. We did not make meals however and chose to eat out aside from breakfast and a few lunches. The only cons were no fan in the master (it did get a tad stuffy at night even with windows opened) and the steep, narrow stairway down. Easily doable for a 6 and 8 yr old but not so much for anyone with toddlers or knee issues. Also, there is no true beach access but we knew that coming in. The surfer trails down are steep but we did see a few easier ones we could of made it down; Dennis will give you tips for nearby access. If you have younger children, the cliffs are a tad unsettling. My 6 yr old is a tad sporadic and clumsy so we had to keep a hand on him at all times. Del Mar is a beautiful town but very very upscale. We had a hard time eating out with picky/restless kids but found plenty of casual dining options in the area. Overall, it was a great 5 night stay and I'd recommend it to friends and family."

  • Awesome place for a beach vacay!

"Nice little place, perfectly sized for our family of 3. The location is incredible in terms of beach access (just a short walk, maybe 200m) and to food, coffee (Curious Fork) and shopping. We have some sensitive sleepers and the train tracks (located 50m away) were certainly noticed by them; if you're used to some city noise, cars and small aircraft then you probably won't notice. That being said, we would still consider staying at this location in the future. The landlord is located in back half of this duplex and shares an entrance/walkway to the street; he's very friendly!"
