  • Cute and spacious

"We just finished up a 5 night stay at Dennis and Mimi's. Overall, the unit was fantastic. Dennis gave us a quick tour as soon as we arrived and even provided a stool for my two boys to use at the tall bathroom sink. He was very friendly, always waving hello and giving us tips for the area. The unit itself is very clean and well-taken care of. Both bedrooms were surprisingly spacious; the bathrooms were huge! There is a lack of dining seating inside but our two boys were happy to eat at the breakfast bar. The kitchen is small but well-equipped. We did not make meals however and chose to eat out aside from breakfast and a few lunches. The only cons were no fan in the master (it did get a tad stuffy at night even with windows opened) and the steep, narrow stairway down. Easily doable for a 6 and 8 yr old but not so much for anyone with toddlers or knee issues. Also, there is no true beach access but we knew that coming in. The surfer trails down are steep but we did see a few easier ones we could of made it down; Dennis will give you tips for nearby access. If you have younger children, the cliffs are a tad unsettling. My 6 yr old is a tad sporadic and clumsy so we had to keep a hand on him at all times. Del Mar is a beautiful town but very very upscale. We had a hard time eating out with picky/restless kids but found plenty of casual dining options in the area. Overall, it was a great 5 night stay and I'd recommend it to friends and family."

  • Family Friendly and on the sand!

"Let's be real here folks...Can anyone watch the sunset, on the beach and still be sitting in their home? Well,,,You can by staying here! I took so many sunset pictures my facebook friends are all jealous! This was great for a family vacation. Just like the beach houses I remember from my youth...Big open rooms and a Walton style dining table for eating or board games Kids are so easy to watch as they make sand castles as the adults sit on the patio. There's really nothing like the Del Mar beach. Paradise! Easy to park behind the house, super comfortable and what a way to start and end a day. I would much rather rent a home ON the beach than across the street. Really appreciate that it's family friendly and comfortable. I already miss the low tide walks and running on the sand. If its booked when you want to come...it's probably because my family is renting it again. Enjoy your vacation!"

  • Wow! Who needs a hotel? This has everything!

"Villa V, as the owner calls it, is a dream estate! With easy access to the freeway, beaches, and idyllic Rancho Santa Fe, it captured my heart the second I drove through the gates. It is almost 10,000 sqft of well-planned luxury and comfort. The 1-acre grass and pool area with its golf green, hot-tub, Palm trees, and towering Eucalyptus made me feel I was in my own private nature preserve. The gas-fed tikis and twinkle lights out the nights, and the old world English pub and poker room with its 16ft shuffleboard helped me relax and enjoy time with my family. The professional grade movie theater and wine-tasting room were an extra bonus. We loved the open kitchen and patios overlooking the pool and spent many hours playing billiards, ping-pong, and foosball. Every room had clean and fresh sheets and towels and there was plenty of room for our party of 14 to enjoy our stay and still have plenty of privacy. It seemed expensive at first, but compared to 5 rooms at a local resort it was a much better deal. The management company was on the ball and had fresh amenities and our groceries ready for us when we arrived. We will be back. The pictures do not do it justice."

  • Great escape!

"Our family of 6 spent a week here over Spring Break. What a great place to be! Our four children, ages 8-15, all enjoyed this home, especially its unique lay-out, and its pool. David was very upfront about a few home improvements that were still in the works, but nothing that we couldn't easily work around. Between the loft, the assorted staircases to the many rooms, and of course the swing in the living room, it was a true departure from our routine. The kitchen was well-equipped and very large. Though it is a very hilly neighborhood, we were able to run down to the beach--usually opting for a ride back up! The convenience of stores and restaurants and of course, hiking trails near-by was also a plus. Thank you David for a very relaxing escape."
