  • Spectacular

"This rental was exactly as advertised. It slept my little family of 4 perfectly with room to spare. It is quiet and off the beaten path. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet. The beach is a short drive away and beach stuff is provided all you need to do is ask. The patio was great and enclosed. We ate our dinners out there and it kept my little one closed in and still let him run around. Peggy and her husband were accommodating and nice. Our youngest is approaching 2 and has started his screaming phase and I felt terrible. I was reassured it was okay and to not stress about it. We will definitely be going back next summer!!!"

  • Great Location & Neighborhood

"My wife and dogs make the trip out to San Diego every July for the past 4 years and this has been the best home we have stayed in yet. It is comfortable, open and has a living and family room. (We used the dining room for an office while there) The furniture is clean and comfortable. (Couch covers provided to keep pet hair off furniture)Nice size TV in the Living room where it is cooler in the morning and after dark as the sun beats in the late afternoon through the top windows. There are a couple fans, but I usually bring a floor and two small table fans for guest that come to visit. It did get warm and we usually had the windows open for air flow. (No A/C Phoenicians!) There are a couple lawn chairs and beach chair to take to the beach. On the outdoor patio, there is a nice table and umbrella for shade. Also, there is a BBQ in garage to take out back during your stay to grill up your favorites. I enjoy grilling up steaks, burgers, chicken & veggies and used it quite a bit. (It is enjoyable to grill when it is not 108 degrees outside!) Master bedroom was spacious and the bed was comfortable (not too firm). Dual sinks in the master bedroom provide ample space for two people. Plenty of water pressure from shower head. Guest bedrooms were smaller and mattresses were firm, but company did not complain when I asked them how they slept. :) It is nice when you stay a month and yard service comes every other Friday. The grass does grows quick! A recommendation for the owner would be to use some mulch or bark around the sidewalks, side yard; where it is mostly dirt/sand and surrounding shrubs and trees to reduce the amount of dirt that comes into the home. We literally swept up every two-three days and hosed the patio off fairly regularly. I understand that dogs track stuff in, but this was much more than we are used to. We enjoyed it so much, we reserved July & August next year."

  • Terrific property

"This was our third trip to what we now call the "Grandview House" and it's our go-to property for beach vacations. The plusses: nice, modern, well-kept, comfortable and tasteful home, and especially the yard (including outdoor shower that's great for rinsing off after the beach); terrifically well-stocked kitchen (including numerous spices, baking basics, etc. - go check the cabinets before you hit the grocery store!); tons of beach toys and related amenities (including surfboards, boogie boards, skateboards, balls, sand toys, and beach towels); owners who seem to genuinely care about their guests having a good experience; and of course the walk-to-the-beach location. It's about a 5 minute walk to the beach, up a hill that's a small challenge for the little ones, but a totally great value when you consider the price differential for the nearby cliff-top properties. We highly recommend this property for a family getaway."

  • LOVED this spot

"My husband and I stayed in this amazing spot for one week with our 2 girls, age 6 and 9. We couldn't have asked for a better location. We originally were going to bring our girls to Disneyland for the first time, but we really didn't want to stay at the resort, so we used this location to take 2 day trips. We also went into San Diego to visit the Zoo and spent some time at the beach when we wanted to leave the car parked. The house is wonderful and the host is the same. He was super friendly, availabe to answer any question we had, and accomodating in every way. The location is perfect for beach days and everything you would want for the beach is all in the garage for your use. I just love the convenience of a home, especially with children. Why anyone would stay at a hotel when there are places like this is beyond me. We will definately be back again. We already miss the laid-back little town of Encinitas!"
