"My husband and I needed a getaway and some place to celebrate our 12th year anniversary. We spent 3 nights at Cathleen's Cottage with our 2 Siberian Huskies. They had a fantastic time exploring the outdoor in a safely fenced yard. We were very happy with the security of the fence and the large property for them to run around. We also enjoyed grilling out on the patio and watching the neighborhood festivities for Halloween (didn't think about bringing candy)!"

"We had a wonderful time staying in this gorgeous house. It was attractive inside and out with lots of space around the property for the kids to play and explore. The rope swing was a hit and we enjoyed playing ball games on the lawn in front of the house. The porch swing was my favorite place to sit and relax with a glass of wine! The house itself was spacious and there were so many toys and games for the children to play with as well as a whole VHS library. There is a lovely park and baseball pitch next to the house which was an added bonus as well! While in Julian we visited the Smith Family Ranch Gold Mine which I would highly recommend and Lake Cucayama which is only 10 minutes drive from the house."

"I have been staying at this cabin with my husband and friends for around 10 years. It is as beautiful as shown in the pictures and even more enchanting. This superbly appointed and spacious cabin has room to spread out and relax and the themed rooms are wonderful. Each room has its own heat. The ginormous fireplace is fabulous. The kitchen is the perfect gathering space for cooking, drinking wine and enjoying friends. Everywhere you look there are wonderful views. It stimulates all senses. This cabin will not disappoint. I can't wait to return, hopefully soon!"

"I can't say enough great things about the property. Secluded at the end of a cul-de-sac, we felt totally isolated which is what we were looking for. A short drive from Julian made it the perfect getaway. There was enough room for 2 adults and 3 children to move around and not feel like we were cramped. The large upstairs living room was a perfect play area for the kids as it was rainy most of the weekend, and the fantastic fireplace was a perfect setting for roasting marshmallows and hotdogs. The downstairs was perfect for the adults to "escape" for a few minutes of peace and quiet. I would suggest arriving before dark so you can easily navigate your way to the electric and finding the heat. READ THE BOOK before you settle in as it gives detailed instructions on everything. We got in late we neglected to read it until the next morning, so we didn't know where to turn on the heat... we were warm enough with the plug in heaters, but once we discovered the heat, it was very comfy in the cabin.
AND talk about supplies. I brought things I did not need. There are dishes and utensils galore. I've rented places that said it was stocked and there were only 4 settings of everything and 2 pans. There is enough in the cabin that I didn't need to bring anything but food.
As I said, it rained and with rain comes ants. We didn't discover them until the very last day and in the book it clearly indicated where the ant spray was and what to do. IT is the country folks... and that is a piece of nature. We did find that they LOVE to crawl all over the car though. But a thorough spray of the hose and they were history. Not a big deal to us...
One more note is the manager, Gina... she is fabulous. We never did meet but she was very accommodating. We can't praise this cabin enough and would buy it if it were for sale.
Another note is a trip to the Smith Railroad and Mine. The kids loved riding the railcards and going into the mine in a coal car. The obstacle coarse was a big hit too. SO glad we were able to fit that in and that the rain stopped for us to go."
