  • Just like staying at Grandma's house

"When we arrived at the Point Loma Woods, my girls noticed the sign by the side entrance that said "Casa de Abuelita". That is what this place felt like for us - like visiting Grandma's house. There were 8 of us in the house, and we never felt like we were in each other's space. In fact, sleeping on the other side of the house from my kids I never heard them at all! My girls, being cold-hardy Canadians, loved the pool and were in it as often as they could. It would have been even nicer if it had been heated! The location was PERFECT, and we appreciated the binder full of restaurant recommendations, and relied on them when we were looking for a place to eat. There were a few small things that made it impossible for me to give 5*, even though we had a wonderful stay, but they were minor inconveniences. The bathrooms, in particular, could use some work. The showers were very low, and hard to get the temperature right, and the bathtub did not drain properly. But as I said, these were minor inconveniences and didn't really take away from our enjoyment during our stay."

  • Lovely house, close to terrific beach, very nice outdoor areas

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Beach House. The weather was perfect and we really enjoyed the outdoor spaces. We put the umbrella up on the front porch and sat out there many hours, reading, watching folks go by,etc. A couple of days it got too warm so we put on the AC during the day (it worked fine) but were always able to open up the house at night. The neighborhood is relatively quiet, although there was more traffic than we expected. Parking was generally good except on the weekends, when all the beachgoers wanted to park close as possible so it was difficult to find a space. The kitchen is a very narrow galley style so two people can't cook at one time, but does have a very adequate supply of dishes and pots and pans. Bathrooms are very nice, but without grab bars (no one seems to ever have them!) The beds were comfy and the house nicely decorated. We will definitely consider returning here!"

  • Beautiful La Jolla home in great location

"We have nothing but great things to say about Marc's beautiful home. First of all, the view of the ocean was awesome -- you can see it from the front patio, inside the living room and dining area, and from the middle patio. The house itself is very open -- my wife and I stayed in the master bedroom and literally kept the french doors open all night, and could hear the ocean waves. The middle and rear patios are like a little private oasis, well-landscaped with flowering vines. It was great to come back from the beach and use the outdoor heated shower. Great kitchen (fully stocked -- we prepared 3 dinners there) and nice bathrooms. We weren't sure if the house would be roomy enough, because there were 5 of us (my wife and I, my wife's mother, our 11-year old daughter and her best friend), but because of the indoor/outdoor layout, it felt plenty spacious. Great neighborhood, directly across the street from a beautiful beach, and we were able to walk to restaurants and shops. We highly recommend this home."

  • Best Vacation Ever

"My husband has relatives that live in California that we have not seen in 20 years. We scheduled this trip as a family reunion. This house was in a central location for relatives that lived in San Diego and La Jolla. Our college age children were able to meet us there. La Jolla is beautiful. The house is great. Clean, well updated, lovely amenities. Nice having flowers and fruit when we arrived. Close to everything. Easy booking. We plan on visiting our new found relatives again, and we will definitely want to stay at this home again. Our children even want to come back with their friends."
