  • Perfect Home!

"We were in town for our daughters wedding at the Martin Johnson House. This home was perfect for our family (4 adults & 2 children)! We stayed in the rental for 8 days and it very quickly became home to us, which is important with 2 little kids in the house. Everything is there that you need in the house along with the grill on the patio to the beach items in the garage. My son especially like the quiet office space and used it daily. Coming from cold and dreary Ohio, I especially loved the beautiful courtyards and being able to open the doors and still not worry about the little girls getting out, as the house is all gated. The house is a short stroll to the beach, the playground and the local shops and restaurants. Brant Westfall was excellent to work with. He and his wife were quick to answer all questions I had. I highly recommend this home and will definitely book again"

  • Loved our time in La Jolla Shores

"We rented this home for seven nights to celebrate my 40th birthday. We shared it with my parents, my brother's family of four and my family of four. First impression of the home and especially the outdoor space was simply impressive, as was the home's location. Kitchen was gorgeous, kids spent lots of time in the hot tub, playing ball in the front yard and using the owner's bean bag toss. We spent evenings outside and the kids loved the outdoor shower. The location allows everyone to really do their own thing, so we would take the young kids to playground or grassy park for soccer while my mom and dad walked to breakfast at Carolines or the french bakery and others went running on beach. Running up to old La Jolla is a good workout too and only takes 15 minutes. It should be noted that the beach was extremely crowded all week from morning to night, as was the park. This may not be ideal for those seeking quiet, but is great for kids as the breaks are not pounding and even my five year old boogie boarded (thanks to boogie board and long board in garage!) Walking down to Avenida de La Playa was nice if we didn't feel like driving up the hill to Old La Jolla (great shopping up there too and all the best views). The first two nights, everyone complained of the house being hot, but it was unseasonably hot and not enough to take away a star as this was a beautiful home right in the heart of it at a fair price! Thank you!!"

  • Perfect La Jolla shores rental

"We had a great time in this La Jolla gem! Six of us (including our daughter, son-in-law and two grandkids) thoroughly enjoyed being able to walk to La Jolla shores beach, but the house itself was also totally wonderful--very clean, nicely laid out with the master suite for us and the other two bedrooms and bath for them. Loved the shower, bath/shower and kitchen renovations. Even though it is a short block away from La Jolla Shores Drive, we heard no traffic noise other than a car that needed some muffler work! The view up to the Hillside Drive area and to the eastern hills is lovely, helped by the perfectly clear and bright days we were fortunate to have during our stay. The two-car garage is really great because street parking can be tight in this area. The beds are all very comfortable. The kitchen is lovely and well-equipped. Having the front gated area PLUS the back courtyard (complete with a fully loaded lemon tree!) for the kids to play safely was a real bonus. There is a pack n play in the bedroom closet. Since this wasn't mentioned in the listing, we had rented one with an additional softer mattress for our 19-month-old grandson, so probably he slept a bit better on the rental than on the basic mattress. We had a great time and would recommend this house to anyone looking for an authentic, traditional La Jolla experience!"

  • Did not want to leave!

"My husband I spent a glorious week in this lovely, funky, California, all the way, house. We both were about to cry when it came time to leave. I literally didn't even want to imagine anyone else staying in "our home." The location of this house is amazing. The beach is right down the street and there are numerous fantastic restaurants within one block. We ate almost every meal in this neighborhood and the food was fabulous at every place. In addition, it was so easy to hop up on the freeway and make our way into San Diego to be the tourists that we love to be. We could leave our house and be downtown in fifteen minutes. The main town of La Jolla was also easy to get to and you have your own parking spot right in the back. The house was loaded with all amenities and there wasn't anything we needed that we didn't find there for us. I will forever cherish our time sitting on the front porch watching the surfers and kayakers walk by. I also bought some great art work at a gallery just around the block. One of our best vrbo experiences ever!"
