  • Perfect La Jolla shores rental

"We had a great time in this La Jolla gem! Six of us (including our daughter, son-in-law and two grandkids) thoroughly enjoyed being able to walk to La Jolla shores beach, but the house itself was also totally wonderful--very clean, nicely laid out with the master suite for us and the other two bedrooms and bath for them. Loved the shower, bath/shower and kitchen renovations. Even though it is a short block away from La Jolla Shores Drive, we heard no traffic noise other than a car that needed some muffler work! The view up to the Hillside Drive area and to the eastern hills is lovely, helped by the perfectly clear and bright days we were fortunate to have during our stay. The two-car garage is really great because street parking can be tight in this area. The beds are all very comfortable. The kitchen is lovely and well-equipped. Having the front gated area PLUS the back courtyard (complete with a fully loaded lemon tree!) for the kids to play safely was a real bonus. There is a pack n play in the bedroom closet. Since this wasn't mentioned in the listing, we had rented one with an additional softer mattress for our 19-month-old grandson, so probably he slept a bit better on the rental than on the basic mattress. We had a great time and would recommend this house to anyone looking for an authentic, traditional La Jolla experience!"

  • Just like staying at Grandma's house

"When we arrived at the Point Loma Woods, my girls noticed the sign by the side entrance that said "Casa de Abuelita". That is what this place felt like for us - like visiting Grandma's house. There were 8 of us in the house, and we never felt like we were in each other's space. In fact, sleeping on the other side of the house from my kids I never heard them at all! My girls, being cold-hardy Canadians, loved the pool and were in it as often as they could. It would have been even nicer if it had been heated! The location was PERFECT, and we appreciated the binder full of restaurant recommendations, and relied on them when we were looking for a place to eat. There were a few small things that made it impossible for me to give 5*, even though we had a wonderful stay, but they were minor inconveniences. The bathrooms, in particular, could use some work. The showers were very low, and hard to get the temperature right, and the bathtub did not drain properly. But as I said, these were minor inconveniences and didn't really take away from our enjoyment during our stay."

  • Beach Cottage

"We stayed at this house with our two small children and my parents. The house was a little bit further from the beach than we had anticipated, but it was still a beautiful walk. The neighborhood was quiet, and there was a great bagel shop about two blocks away. My only complaint was that there was no AC and only one fan in the whole house. Otherwise, we greatly enjoyed our stay in this very cute cottage."

  • quiet, clean and quaint

"My husband and I had a lovely week at this cottage. All the amenities were there as other reviewers have noted. The bed is comfortable and the street parking was fine although you may have to walk a block or so. What we loved was how quiet it was and close to great beaches and museums. Don't miss the Farmers Markets at Oceanside and La Jolla. Thanks Sary for a good holiday cottage."
