  • Delightful Diamond-In-The-Village Apartment Near Everything La Jolla!

"Our best stay when visiting San Diego for a yearly business conference! Will DEFINITELY stay here again!! For 2 adults, it's a perfect size. Good-sized kitchen, comfortable living area, a small-sized bathroom BUT it works for us, outdoor patio AWAY from the busy street, laundry facilities on property, and your own garage (the deal breaker when we were researching rentals!) The property sits next to a pub and the noise from there was not too bad. The people on the next property were quiet so that didn't bother us. The only suggestion we'd like to see the next time we visit would be to place a thick cushion on-top of the futon bed to make it more comfortable. We are a very active couple who surfs, paddle boards, runs/walks during the day and a more cushiony bed would be ideal. The unit has no A/C so I'm not certain we'll be visiting during the summer months, but hopefully will return during the not-so-hot times in SD!"

  • 3 Generation Spring Break

"Our family has travelled fairly extensively with this being our 3rd home rental in the last few years (Orlando, Maui being the others) - so we have some basis for comparison. We have been to San Diego a few times in recent years and were looking this year to do a stay with our parents and teenage daughter in La Jolla. I saw this house last fall and thought it to be the perfect fit, but it was booked for the week we wanted. Imagine my surprise when one cold January day in Canada, we found that it was now available for our March dates.... There are many nice-appearing places in La Jolla, but nothing that seemed as perfect as this one, so we jumped on it when it came open. Very glad we did. All the good stuff has already been said... Location, location, location. Perfect for the beach, for access to down-town La Jolla, and for a quick trip to SD. The front deck and back courtyard give you all the options you need. Glass of wine or brew on the deck for sunset. Coffee in the courtyard in the a.m. when it is a little cooler in front of the house. I always find it helpful to read the worse reviews also, to get a different sense of what you are stepping into. I suppose that if a high-end hotel is your point of reference, you will find issues. There might be a little dust on a fixture in the corner somewhere, or a piece of caulking that needs replacing in a shower, or you might not get a matched set of wine glasses, but for us this stuff is trivial. Everything you need is there. It is such a dream to have a cold drink over the fire on the front deck, enjoying the view of the palm trees, the surfers and the waves breaking. I truly had that feeling you hope to get on vacation (but seldom do), where you can forget about the other stuff in your life and just enjoy a perfect moment in a perfect day. We had a couple of these moments. Regarding the property management, I didn't get to meet Brant, but we traded emails as necessary, and there was never a problem. He was very attentive and responsive. For newbees, I strongly encourage you to contact the property manager if you have any problems. We fretted over stuff on one of our other rentals (in Maui) for a few days, then called. In that case, the stuff was fixed in an hour once we called. Brant was equally keen to make the experience here positive whenever something came up. We'll be back!"

  • Did not want to leave!

"My husband I spent a glorious week in this lovely, funky, California, all the way, house. We both were about to cry when it came time to leave. I literally didn't even want to imagine anyone else staying in "our home." The location of this house is amazing. The beach is right down the street and there are numerous fantastic restaurants within one block. We ate almost every meal in this neighborhood and the food was fabulous at every place. In addition, it was so easy to hop up on the freeway and make our way into San Diego to be the tourists that we love to be. We could leave our house and be downtown in fifteen minutes. The main town of La Jolla was also easy to get to and you have your own parking spot right in the back. The house was loaded with all amenities and there wasn't anything we needed that we didn't find there for us. I will forever cherish our time sitting on the front porch watching the surfers and kayakers walk by. I also bought some great art work at a gallery just around the block. One of our best vrbo experiences ever!"

  • Two-bedroom Gem!

"My husband and I were looking for a winter retreat and we hit the jackpot with Garden Cottage. Cozy, clean and comfortable, tastefully appointed, lovingly landscaped and private, the cottage answered all of our needs. The area offers so much: La Jolla with its shops, restaurants and beaches would be enough, but there is also the draw of San Diego and its many points of interest, such as the Zoo and Balboa Park, the Aquarium and Sea World. We hope to return to the Cottage and would enthusiastically recommend it to friends. Bruce was a great host and even emailed to remind us of the weekly Sunday farmer's market within walking distance, another must-do. What did we love most about the Cottage? Its backyard garden oasis, with two fountains and soft night lighting."
