"Rating "good" for location but "average" as accommodation. Your enjoyment of this property depends partly on how much time you plan to spend inside, and on your definition of comfortable "beach" living. It is a good location, close to both beach and bay. It's nicely decorated & well equipped with bikes, beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, toys, etc. A short walk away are supermarket, library, many restaurants, boat rentals, etc. Price is comparable to others in the area. Lay-out of rooms is awkward. There are only two true bedrooms (with doors), on the ground floor, sharing a bath. There's little ventilation on the ground floor. The third-floor sleeping area is like a loft, two single beds at the top of a stairwell - no way to close off the area from noise in the kitchen/living/dining area; not for light sleepers or small children. Nor are there blinds or shades on all the windows, so it's very bright in the morning. If you like grilling or sitting outside for meals, this is not a place where you can do that conveniently. The kitchen is on the second floor, the outdoor spaces are either on the ground floor, or up stairs to a tiny third floor terrace. No beach or bay views (& none promised). When sitting on the ground floor patio in the late afternoon, be aware that tenants of the other half of the duplex will want to wash the sand off their feet and their beach equipment, using the only hose, pretty much right where you are sitting. A huge house is being built across Ostend Court; constructions begins by 8 am and continues all day, including Saturday, thru September 2015. Once finished, it should be quieter, but construction noise was troublesome. Arriving after dark, it's hard to find the house due to lack of clearly lit house numbers. Also hard to find the garage door on the un-named alley behind Ostend Court. I don't advise any vehicle wider than a Camry. Like many beach houses we have rented in SD, the kitchen comes complete with fruit flies. Some windows (like the one over the kitchen sink) don't have screens, so house flies are an issue. Cover your fruit bowl and/or keep things in the fridge. All doors had dirty finger smudges, but bathrooms and bedrooms were clean. Wifi worked fine."
