"We stayed at the property during late September and I would recommend it in an instant to anyone who wants a classy and comfortable accommodation option, which is incredibly conveniently located; a stone's throw from the Gaslamp and very close to the trolley. Access was a breeze and the property is a real gem. Very comfortable and stylish and Stewart the owner is a champion and extremely easy to deal with. I'd recommend the property to all groups, although folks with restricted movement might find the stairs a challenge. Will definitely stay here again when back in SD."

  • A beautiful, well appointed, comfortable, and secure luxury vacation rental !

"The Alicante building in Banker's Hill / Hillcrest neighborhood is by far the most well kept, secure, clean, and detailed high rise building in the area. The residents and management are all warm and friendly. We liked the location…a five minute walk to the Old Globe, Balboa Park, Zoo, Croce's Jazz Club, and San Diego's Hillcrest neighborhood with many great restaurants and bars. Grocery Shopping is close by, as is the Bus which stops in front of the building. It is a 5 minute drive to the airport and an $8. Uber fare. The underground parking (2) is very secure and the check in procedure simple and fast 24/7. Once you open the door to this beautiful flat you are immediately struck with the remarkable 270 degree views stretching from Balboa park to La Jolla, including the airport which is entertaining all day as you watch the jets weave between San Diego's towers. They are not loud as you are quite a distance from the airport itself. The view of San Diego's Big Bay is commanding and you can watch the many large ships arrive and depart…even the aircraft carriers and Cruise liners. The evening views are stunning as you are high atop downtown San Diego…the living room is large, the home entertainment center fantastic, with plenty of books to read on the shelves. There are two decks that include a full size BBQ and seating which is perfect for morning coffee or meals. The Kitchen complete with everything you need including a Keurig coffee maker and a view ! Both bedrooms have spectacular views from the beds, complete with televisions and roomy closets. The bathrooms are large with plenty of soap and towels. Internet worked fast and the motorized shades on the windows very convenient. Air conditioning kept us cool all day and night and there is even a small office cubby with a printer, paper, and extra ink. The owners really paid attention to detail down to the art on the walls. We loved our stay here and will be back many more times in the future. You can't stay in this level of luxury at this price anywhere in the world, let alone beautiful San Diego. A big THANK YOU !"

  • A gem!

"Excellent location within walking distance of restaurants and entertainment! The beautifully decorated home is immaculate and well-outfitted with top-notch appliances. The outdoor spaces were also tranquil and relaxing: water fountain, grill, outdoor patio. The owners are very personable and had great recommendations for dining and sightseeing. Would definitely stay here again!"

  • 40th anniversary!

"This place is amazing and way beyond our expectations. We rented it to celebrate our 40th anniversary with our daughters, son in laws and three grandchildren, aged 2, 3 and 6. Each family had their own bathroom and the towels and bedding were just like we would buy for our own home. The kitchen was so well done with everything we needed and so much room both to work and store our own things. There is an oversized frig and an extra one in the garage which we did not need. The washer and dryer were also oversized and we could wash all the towels without any trouble. The pool was perfect for the three young ones and by the end of the week they all felt very confident and could not get enough of the pool. The location was also amazing. Not more than 15 minutes to either the zoo, La Jolla, Sea World, shopping mall, Coronado, Little Italy. Our children found it to be only 90 minutes to Disneyland. We could watch the planes come and go, yet the house is so well insulated we could not hear them while in the house. I have used VRBO many times and this place is by far my favorite. Both because of the location, etc and the quickness of responses from both the owner and property manager. Amazing!"

Dining in San Diego

- Carnitas’ Snack Shack: In 2011, chefs Hanis Cavin and Sara Stroud opened Carnitas’ Snack Shack. They serve slow food-inspired, pork-based American cuisine, snacks and local beers. The menu changes daily because the chefs use local ingredients from farmers, ranchers, bakers and breweries. Not only will the meal be delicious, but you can feel good knowing you’re supporting local business!

- Market Restaurant: If you’re looking for an upscale, yet casual restaurant for a nice dinner, try Market Restaurant + Bar. Carl Schroeder, chef and owner, opened his place in 2006 and has experienced success ever since. He also uses locally grown ingredients and bases his meals around what’s in season. You can enjoy farm-fresh vegetables, meats, cheeses and other produce.

- Vincent’s: If you have a craving for some French food in San Diego, you’ll want to plan and evening at Vincent’s. Chef Vincent Grumel studied in Avignon, France, and brought back what he learned to combine classic French cooking techniques with the use of quality, in-season ingredients. Pair your meal with one of the more than 2,000 wines held in the cellar, from grand vintages and wines from small producers. For six years in a row, Vincent's was honored with the “Award of Excellence” from the Wine Spectator, so you can be sure you will be sipping something wonderful. Celebrate your joie de vivre as you dine on seafood, duck, pork, beef and vegetables!
