  • Mulitgenerational vacation

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had 4 generations of an extended family vacationing together. Our view and proximity to the beach were excellent. We rented two units to accommodate all of us, one just above the other, which gave us space for togetherness as well as quiet reflection. It also gave us two kitchens to work in... a bonus for a family like ours that enjoys cooking and family meals. We often ate outside on the decks overlooking the beach. We were within walking distance of a variety of restaurants. The living space is more snug that it appears in the photos but overall we were very pleased with our accommodations. The beds were comfortable; it was wonderful to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the surf. We enjoyed morning walks/runs along the beach and those who played in the surf were in full view from the big picture window of our upper unit. We all came away wanting to take another family vacation like this again."

  • Our New Winter Vacation Spot

"Wonderful open family room with vaulted ceilings, skylights and great view of the channel that can also be viewed from the master bedroom. Best king size bed I've ever slept in! Very nice owners. My wife and I were so comfortable in this condo that we have already booked it again for next year. Two thumbs up. :-)"

  • An amazing experience. No surprises. Had everything we needed and more. Will come back.

"This was our first experience on VRBO so we were hesitant. This is a great place to say and its priced right. Communication from this owner was superb and we had no confusion, no surprises. The unit was very clean, quiet, security gate, just overall enjoyable. We rented a car so having the garage was awesome. The owners are friendly and accessible (we didn't have any issues or questions but they were around if you needed them). Had a few nice chats with them and if you needed info about the neighborhood or touristy stuff they were very happy to help find what you needed. There were several units in the building and all clients are very good, quiet, friendly, etc. The Golden Hill Café was pretty cool, very retro but great food, great price, super friendly staff and less than a block away. A nice bakery and small grocery place for everything you need. Highly recommend this place and although we like to try different places we would be back here the next time we are in San Diego."

  • UNBELIEVABLE VIEW & LOCATION, INCREDIBLE VALUE!

"My husband and I wanted something ocean front, and did not think we'd find it in our price range. I looked for over 3 weeks, and then as luck would have it, I found this property. I cannot emphasize enough the view from this place! We were over the owners' main house, which sits right on what I believe is an adjoining portion of the area called Sunset Cliffs, south of Ocean Beach. I got up early every morning, and stayed up late each evening, sat on that deck, and enjoyed hearing the waves just below. Each day, we saw at VERY close range pelicans, dolphins, terns, seagulls, and the occasional seal - it is hard to describe how wonderful it was. The sunsets were everything one would think of in a place called "Sunset Cliffs". My only regret was I wished we had sprung for binocs. Trust me, make the investment! This is a one-level efficiency apt - has everything a couple could need, is clean and well-stocked, has a very comfy bed, has a laundry room next door, and is in a quiet and safe neighborhood. It has private off-street parking, and is well within walking distance of a small beach, the larger beach by the Ocean Beach Pier, and downtown Ocean Beach. OB is an easy shot to almost everything in San Diego. The owners Tim and Kathy could not have been nicer or more accommodating, during the time that I was calling and asking questions, booking the place, and then staying there. They gave us our privacy, but were available when we needed them, and were friendly and very helpful in making suggestions of things to do. We stayed about 5 days in this Ocean Front place, and then because it was booked for the remainder of our stay, stayed in the other larger, two-level place called "Ocean View", also on the property that was built later by the main house owner - more room for a family, though both properties have pull out sofa beds in the living area. It is newer and has a nice fireplace, and the view is also very nice there - I felt like if it were whale season, I might have a longer, better view as that place was higher up. But if we are ever able to go to San Diego again, we will plan it around the availability of this "Ocean Front" efficiency apt. It was truly everything we could ever have dreamed for in a vacation property, and quite honestly, our best vacation stay experience ever - and we have stayed in MANY hotels, motels, B&B's, inns, and rental properties. We miss it already! Thanks so much, Tim and Kathy!"

San Diego County Travel Tips

The coastal community of San Diego is the second-largest city in California. Originally, the area was inhabited by the San Dieguito and La Jolla Native American tribes before it was established as the first European settlement by Spain during the mid-1500s. The city has experienced substantial growth since its founding, and has changed hands between Mexico and the U.S. throughout its extensive history.

Located approximately 120 miles south of Los Angeles, this shoreline community rests along the the U.S.-Mexico border in southern California. San Diego experiences a warm climate throughout the majority of the year, with most of the annual precipitation falling between December and March. Winter weather is mild, and temperatures rarely drop down to the freezing point. Visitors should pack light, with a few pairs of shorts, sunglasses and a bottle of sunscreen, and possibly a light jacket or sweater for twilight chills or day trips near the Pacific.

Oceanfront Activities

With its close proximity to the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean, the city of San Diego boasts a wealth of waterfront activities and tourist attractions. The subtropical climate presents comfortable conditions for visitors interested in spending a day or two enjoying outdoor excursions and the natural beauty of the area.

- SeaWorld San Diego is an adventure theme park that features a wide selection of thrill rides, animal encounters and engaging performances. Get your adrenaline pumping on the steep drops and arching curves on the double-launch Manta roller coaster, or enjoy an interaction with dolphins and other creatures of the deep that call this park home. Acrobatic aquatic performances feature the talents of numerous marine-dwelling mammals, who launch themselves high into the air and engage in death-defying stunts that will surely take your breath away.

- The beaches of San Diego stretch out on 70 miles of pristine coastline and offer guests the opportunity to lay out over white sands and soak up some California sunshine. Join locals in a game of sand volleyball at Mission Beach or compete in the sand castle competition at Imperial Beach in the south bay. Ocean Beach is nestled between the San Diego River and the rolling hills of Point Loma, and often presents prime conditions for surfing, swimming and other waterfront frivolity.
