  • Convention

"Great location close to Moscone Convention, and helpful (and flexible) owners. Good space, full kitchen and small balcony add to a great venue."

  • Nice but noisy

"This unit is in a fantastic location - one block to the Panhandle, just a few minutes walk to Alamo Square, and a quick drive to everything else, from Ocean Beach to the Embarcadero and Fisherman's Wharf or the GG Bridge. Street parking was never a problem (and we had 2 cars). It's kitty corner to a Peet's and gourmet grocery. However, the map on the listing was not very accurate. The apartment is actually directly on Fell St., which is a major artery going into Golden Gate Park, and there is heavy traffic which would start very early in the morning. The apartment itself was quite nice - but there were a few details which, given the price, could have been better taken care of. One of the beds had a boxspring that groaned so loudly that we could not sleep on it - we had to put the mattress on the floor. The kitchen has some decent pots and frying pans, but no oven mitts or roasting pans - we spent Christmas here, so had to improvise for cooking our Christmas dinner. Only one of the bedrooms had a reading lamp. And lastly, it would be good to know that the apartment has two sets of steep stairs (one outside, one inside) in case one has very young or very old people in their party. We truly enjoyed our stay in SF, but did not always have a full night's sleep in this apartment."

  • Magical Place

"My boyfriend and I, along with another couple, spent the weekend at this fabulous place. It was magical. First you are greeted by four well-behaved but enthusiastic dogs as you pull up. (This was nice as our 17 year old dog died two weeks ago.) As you walk to the front door on the other side of the house you see the beautiful, well kept garden and patio area. Then the horses and meadow. But it was the swing on the large oak tree, the chicken coop, and the Sweet Pea Cottage that stole my heart. Fresh eggs in the morning, feeding carrots to the chickens (who knew they ate those?), swinging on the oak tree beyond the cliff overlooking the bay, and exploring the ornate children's cottage and trails behind the secret tree. I told my boyfriend that this would be a great place to take our kids, if we had any. But then I realized...it allowed us to be kids! Even better. We loved the patio set up - the ability to build a fire and have dinner and cocktails outside. And the house was fabulous - surprises everywhere with all the comforts and charms of home! Linda and Stockton, our hosts, took great care of us. This is a fabulous estate and we intend to return."

  • Charming family home

"We had a wonderful stay at this North Berkeley home. The location is fantastic - a nice, quiet neighborhood and is an easy walk to restaurants, parks, grocery store, farmers markets and public transportation. The home is comfortable and included some nice touches like flowers from the garden upon our arrival, a great selection of books (including for children) and a daily New York Times on the porch every morning. One thing to note, this home has a lived-in feel, which might not appeal to all, but we found added to the charm, warmth and authentic Berkeley feel."
