  • Fantastic home - high quality EVERYTHING

"We flew to the SF Bay Area from Austria with our 4 month old daughter. We were jet-lagged and had horrid traffic on the Bay Bridge coming over to Alameda Island but in the end, when we got to the house - we felt like we'd reached paradise. The house is owned by a lovely German woman and it's obvious that she's put a lot of work into it. Everything is new - we even got a new refrigerator while we were there! The house was clean and tastefully decorated with everything you need. Although there is a kid's room - we couldn't really use it for Laura. So we took one of the mattresses from the bunk bed and put it on the floor in our bedroom and made her a little nest on it. That worked pretty well. We had also taken along a play mat for her to lie on in the living room. The only thing missing for us was a baby bathtub and thick curtains so we could block out the sun. It's wonderful to have so much sunlight - except when you have a baby :) but other than that - everything was perfect! The location is also very practical - you can get to the city by ferry (the traffic is reallllly bad to get over the bridge) and you have a great starting point for driving to Napa, Monterey, Yosemite - whatever. We had lots of grocery shopping stores in the area and it's only a 5 min walk to the water to watch the lights of the city twinkle. We were sad to leave and we'll definitely be back! Vielen Dank Annegret!"

  • Great stay in the San Francisco area!

"Great location, great access to the San Francisco bay area. Beautiful gardens, wonderful neighborhood, yet not too far from major sites (Golden Gate Bridge, Oakland, Airport, etc.) A plus to have free parking! Highly recommend to anyone."

  • Much better than a motel and cheaper

"We stayed here while visiting my daughter in San Lorenzo. The location was perfect. The furnishings look different than the picture; I think even nicer. The kitchen was well furnished, the bed was comfortable and the unit was very clean. It was convenient having the washer and drier available. As mentioned in other reviews, having a designated parking space is wonderful in Alameda. We took the ferry to San Francisco one day, a great way to get to Fisherman's wharf or downtown. We will stay here again when we are in the area."

  • Charming, warm, and welcoming

"The apartment is charming, roomy, and warm. It is filled with period details such as a claw foot tub, mouldings, stained glass, and a fabulous vintage range. Karen, the owner, has it adorably decorated to reflect its location in the bay area. She has thought of everything to make one's stay comfortable....premium select toiletries, towels and sheets, kitchenware, WIFI, cable TV, a selection of coffees and tea, and even hot chocolate for those chilly Bay Area nights. Upon arrival I was greeted with a vase of fresh flowers picked from her garden and a basket of lemons she harvested from her tree earlier that morning. The house where the apartment is located is surrounded by the most beautiful English garden, a perfect place to enjoy one's morning coffee. She provided a notebook with recommendations for local restaurants and attractions. The apartment is a short walk from the Bay, the Webster Street area, and the BART shuttle. Karen was very easy to work with, communicated clearly and promptly. I would stay again there in a heartbeat and plan on doing just that!"

Alameda Travel Tips

Alameda Vacation Rentals in Vintage Style

Alameda is well known for its vast array of Victorian style homes built between 1840 and 1900 with beautiful ornate details. Over 1500 of the buildings in the area are Victorian single-family or apartment homes, and many of the vacation rentals available in Alameda are in these fabulous, historic locations.

San Francisco Bay Area Travel for Water Sports Fanatics

Alameda lodging offers direct access to San Francisco Bay. Crown Memorial State Beach and Shoreline Drive are hot locations for wind and kite surfers. Experience something new if you've never wind surfed before and take lessons from a local. Catch a ride around the Bay from the hoards of sailors that flock to the area because of the thermally-generated winds and protection from sea swells, providing optimal sailing conditions. You can also watch a yacht race, rent a kayak, or simply have a family picnic on the beach and enjoy the San Francisco skyline at sunset.

Enjoy Attractions Close to Alameda Lodging

Take your family to see the USS Hornet. This Naval aircraft carrier, turned museum, includes a tour of the Nav Bridge, Flight Deck, Hanger Deck, and Second Deck. You can see a variety of aircraft displayed, including propeller and jet powered as well as helicopters. It is mostly a self-guided tour and the museum recommends allowing two to three hours if you plan to explore every inch of the ship.

Vacation Rentals in Alameda Put You Close to the Oakland Raiders

Alameda is home to the official training facilities and offices for the Oakland Raiders, where visitors can tour practice fields, stroll to the player meeting room, and purchase some Raider merchandise. Additionally, the city of Oakland is less than a 15 minute drive from Alameda, giving you the opportunity to enjoy a bit of city life while visiting.
