"While relatively small, the studio was a perfect place for my family while we spent a couple of days visiting Muir Woods and Stinson Beach. For the price it couldn't be beat. Was in a great location (very easy walking distance to shops, coffee, restaurants, etc.) and had all we needed right there. Pretty tight for a family of four but we made it work and really not any different than everyone in one hotel room."

"What brought us to Lafayette was their annual arts festival (we were vendors) and staying close to the "downtown" area. We were lucky to find this perfect spot amongst the trees (and coyotes and deer!), with a private entry, with everything we needed and more. It was bright and airy (windows open-or great AC), had a comfy bed, a washer/dryer for our use, a fully equipped kitchen and a great shower (no tub, which we prefer). Don (the owner) was a pleasure to work with, and very accommodating. We would highly recommend Don's Place to anyone traveling to the area (easy drive to San Francisco or Napa or Marin)."

Beautiful property, great for families, not entirely secluded
"The house is amazing. The pictures don't do it justice. It is located on the top of a mountain overlooking all of the Redwoods in the Santa Cruz mountains. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking.
The pool and gazebo in the picture are located down a steep hill. You have to pack your belongings for the day in a car and drive them down a steep hill if you want to lie by the pool. The pool is very secluded and there is a bathroom and an awesome little shack with a bar type situation to use for the day, so once you bring your belongings down the hill it's fine. It's just a little tedious if you leave things in the main house to have to drive back and forth up the hill.
Also worth noting is there is another house (not pictured) roughly the length of a basketball court from the house. They didn't bother us, but we weren't as secluded as we hoped. The owner made it clear that we could not be loud outside after dark, or the police could come. Kind of bummed because we were hoping to listen to music in the hot tub after dark, but we were made to feel we couldn't really do this or we'd get into trouble. We just hung out outside without music, so it was fine.
I'd definitely come back again for a chill weekend."

"My wife and I spent a month in David's home in San Francisco and had a great time. As previous reviews have mentioned, the house is conveniently located in NoPa, nicely furnished, well-equipped, and very comfortable. David has done an excellent job of providing instructions for the appliances, TV, DVD player, etc. We also really appreciated having a full sized washer and dryer in a separate room which was so convenient. There is also a nice collection of books and DVDs, along with a laptop, printer and fax. David has thought of just about everything one would need. The home is within a couple minutes walk to a few muni bus lines (#43 Masonic, #5 Fulton, #21 Hayes) which will take you all over the city. The nearby Fulton Market is just a block and a half away, and Target and a Trader Joes's are only a 12 to 15 minute walk or a short bus ride away. We will definitely seek a return visit to this home in the future."
