"We have stayed at the Mermaids House 7 times in the past 8 years and absolutely love it. It is the perfect getaway. Very comfortable, very elegantly appointed but with a very cozy warm feel. The kitchen setup is easy to use and we always cook when we are there.
The view is gorgeous, sitting on the deck is so peaceful. Being out over the water is the best. We love it every time regardless of the weather or time of year.
The owner is very helpful and gracious. We plan to continue to visit there at least once a year."

"We used the house for a guys' trip, and everyone loved it, especially the view, from both inside and out. The house is quite well insulated from any noise, but you can hear the waves lapping under the house from time to time at night if the tide is right. It's better suited for a single couple or even a family, but we knew what we were getting into and a couple guys were happy to sleep on the floor for a night. While on the subject of sleeping arrangements, you could easily have at least two couples. One of the hide-a-bed/convertible couch bed was amazingly comfortable with a newer design that was comfortable, evenly firm and NOT with those annoying bars and thin mattresses like one might expect! The house was clean and charming and well equipped. We stayed at a larger house several years ago on the Marin County coast in a place that didn't have oyster knives. (shucks!) This place had three or four! The bath is charming and clean, with lots of storage if needed. But at the end of the day, it's the views that make this place. While we enjoyed Point Reyes hiking, great local food and libations, oysters, and great company, the views tempted us to simply sit on the wrap around deck and stay, and look, and listen, and talk, and do nothing."

"My husband, in laws and I had a wonderful stay at Fred's home. The house has a beautiful location on the bay, allowing us to grill, kayak, and explore Point Reyes Seashore. We also did a day trip to Sonoma which was awesome (we recommend visiting the Kunde Family Winery). It was a great stay and I would definitely recommend staying at Fred's!"

"This is the kind of special place you don't want to tell too many people about. I hesitate to write about it but I can't resist singing its praises. It's beautiful in a spare, casual elegant style. We loved the all-white motif, but those who like fussy interiors will find this place too Spartan. It's immaculate and up to date, very well maintained. Views are wonderful. Walls are mostly windows. We had cloudy days, but most days the sunsets here would be great. It's quiet and isolated, but easy to get to and close enough to Point Reyes. Ann's recommendation that we try Nick's Cove for dinner was spot-on. If you stay here, don't miss it. I would definitely come here again. We had the North Suite. From what I could tell, it was bigger and had better views than the South one. Even though someone was in there, right next door, we never felt intruded on. This place is great for couples, not for families. Dump the kids on grandma and chill here!"
