"The owner had this cottage built a few years ago in her garden on her large hillside property. The cottage is well equipped. It has a picture window with lovely valley views framed by her trees. We have stayed several times and feel most fortunate to have such a charming landlady. The last time, she left us some jalapeno jam and I am afraid we are now addicted.
The cottage is situated in Mill Valley, a village minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco. Mill Valley touches the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Mount Tamalpais with fabulous hiking and views. A deer trail runs on two sides of the cottage outside the fence. If you are an early riser, there is a good chance you will see deer less than 30 feet away.
There are a few small negatives: parking is limited; the hillside lane to the cottage is a narrow zigzag with heavy construction traffic; the cottage is on a hillside with many stairsteps."

"It was perfect for our weekend stay. The room was clean and comfortable for what we needed it for. The location was great, walking distance to the downtown Mill Valley, 4 miles from Muir woods, 40-45min drive to san fran with traffic. (Side note- if you plan on going to Muir woods, make arrangements for a ride home because there is no cell phone service there). Checking in and out was easy."
