"The owner had this cottage built a few years ago in her garden on her large hillside property. The cottage is well equipped. It has a picture window with lovely valley views framed by her trees. We have stayed several times and feel most fortunate to have such a charming landlady. The last time, she left us some jalapeno jam and I am afraid we are now addicted.
The cottage is situated in Mill Valley, a village minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco. Mill Valley touches the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Mount Tamalpais with fabulous hiking and views. A deer trail runs on two sides of the cottage outside the fence. If you are an early riser, there is a good chance you will see deer less than 30 feet away.
There are a few small negatives: parking is limited; the hillside lane to the cottage is a narrow zigzag with heavy construction traffic; the cottage is on a hillside with many stairsteps."

"We spent a lovely weekend at this unique home and absolutely loved it. I was worried the Zero Waste would be a challenge to my father in law and brother in law but they got into the zone, and it didn't turn out to be an issue at all. There are a lot of stairs up to and inside the house, so I was concerned about for the 86 yr old, but he made it up and down safely thanks to the very sturdy railings and landings for resting.
Our first night was clear with a full moon, romantic but we all slept lightly as the curtains are very sheer or non-existent. Next night was cloudy so we did better.
The kitchen was our favorite part of the house - the refrigerator/freezer and dishwasher drawers were new to me, but I ended up really liking them. There were a few spices and oils available, but otherwise we brought everything we needed for our own breakfasts and lunches. We ate dinner at the Buckeye Roadhouse - great!
I did a lot of walking - very easy to get to Mill Valley and then beyond to the Dipsea Trail steps. There was a walking map of the area in the house that inspired me to find them. We also went Segueing on Angel Island - a truly unique experience!
Unlike most vrbo houses we have rented, this one did not have any games - we were glad to find a deck of cards stashed in one of our bags.
I felt it was a reasonable price for the quality, location, and uniqueness of this home. I was a bit shocked at the cleaning fee, so be sure to check the total price before you commit. Owner was very responsive to questions before and during our stay."

"This house was great for our adult get away. We loved that all the bedrooms had a queen or a king bed and the kitchen/family room was very open with plenty of seating for everyone. In addition, we loved the patio and the outdoor fire place. The location to Muir Woods, San Francisco and wine country was fantastic! We would definitely stay in this house again."

"I just had the good fortune of staying at Chuck and Anna's VRBO. They were such gracious hosts. The VRBO looks out over a forest of tranquility. There are steps involved in getting to the VRBO but Chuck made arrangements to access their private elevator for the luggage. Mill Valley is a wonderful town with many restaurants and boutique stores. There is easy access to San Francisco, Sausalito, Mt. Tam, etc. Without doubt I would recommend this VRBO and hope to return there soon."
