"I stayed here for a weekend with my partner. Overall our experience was good.
Pros: Perfect size for a couple, very good kitchen, bed was comfortable, surrounded by redwood trees, nice hot tub, the deck and backyard really added to the space, comfortable couch to read on, decent lighting for reading, great hot water and pressure, nice being so close to town yet feeling away from it all, owners are nice.
Cons: Bathroom floor is unsafe barefoot as it's cracking and coming apart, I was allergic to the blankets on the bed (itchy), musty smell in the bedroom and from the couch.
It's clearly a dog and kid friendly space, which lends itself to feeling chill. We liked the relaxed atmosphere despite not being dog or kid people."

"We are a family of four and rented this house for the first time. We usually stay in Mendocino, but wanted to try something new and quiet for the 4th of July. This place met all of our expectations. The house was exceptionally clean and inviting. The spa and sauna worked and directions were given clearly in writing and on the phone regarding both. The beds were totally comfy. The owner let us know how to get a hold of him if we needed to. The only thing I would advise travelers to this area is to do grocery shopping beforehand. There are a few little stores nearby, but nothing like what we are used to. Beautiful trails and beautiful views. We will be back again."

"You cannot get a better deal than staying at Michael's property unless you are staying with relatives. We usually stay with relatives but this time, there were insufficient room, so I looked elsewhere. Boy, was I glad to find Michael's place and as luck would have it, Michael's place was available during the time we needed a place. It was already booked before and after our visit. The house is clean. It had features that we did not use because of our short 3 night stay. We had full use of the kitchen but we only use a small portion like the microwave and toaster. Most of the meals we ate out with our relatives. Had we stayed longer, we certainly could have used the refrigerator, oven and range and dishwasher to prepare our own meals. The kitchen was fully loaded with plates, utensils, pots and pans. Washer and dryer are available to do laundry. Free WIFI is available. There is a nook that serves as an office. Michael provides a computer for guest use, but if you brought your own devices like lap tops, tablets, and smart phones, you can wirelessly connect to the internet. For me the best feature was the hot shower. It felt so soothing and if it wasn't for the drought conditions, I would have loved to stay under the shower a lot longer. Location of this place is just so convenient and very safe. You are within walking distance to Golden Gate Park. Walk couple blocks and you can catch Muni buses or take the N Judah line light rail to see all the other SF attractions. All of us in our group are older than 60 but found easy to get around from Michael's place. However, if you choose to just chill out, you can watch TV shows from the many channels available there or read a book lounging in the backyard garden. Finally Michael himself was very easy to work with. He is meticulous. He had a packet with maps and information and took the time to explain to us what he expected from us as tenants when we arrived. He gave us a tour of the house and pointed out what all is available at his place. If I come to SF in the future and once again my relatives had no room, I would not hesitate to check if Michael's place is available."

"We are a small company (25 - 30 people) and had our annual retreat at Spirit House. It was a beautiful place for our group to get to know each other better. Spirit House is great because of the following things:
1. The area is beautiful and the views from the house, especially the hot tub are superb.
2. The house is well appointed and clean
3. There are great hiking trails nearby
4. The hot tub
5. The large yurt is large enough for a group of 25 to sit in a circle and have a group discussion.
6. There was enough room for a few people to camp outside.
7. We could easily sleep 20 in the house (ear plugs are a definite plus with this many people)
8. The owner and caretaker Patricia-Lynn is very easy to work with and accomodating.
It was quite restful to stay at Spirit House and I highly recommend it!"
