"We were looking for a house that could accommodate 8 family members comfortably in a robust location. We found our match in the Castro district with this home. First, the house was absolutely spotless from top to bottom. Second, there was plenty of room for our entire party - each couple and both teenagers had their own rooms and access to one of the four bathrooms –there was no arguing over who was using them. The bathrooms were well appointed with plenty of clean towels, soap and shampoo, and soft robes. Third, with my brother and I being the ‘cooks’ of the family, we were more than happy to see the kitchen well stocked with basic provisions, high-end appliances and sufficient kitchen tools to meet our discerning needs. The only thing that was really missing were sharper knives! Regardless, we were able to cook problem-free five of the six nights of our stay. Finally, the garden area was also great with a BBQ where we all took turns basking in the sun and enjoying the December SF weather.
The home was very well located and within walking distance to interesting areas such as Castro, the Mission District and Haight-Ashbury. It was also a surprisingly short underground ride to the Union Square shopping district, Chinatown and the Ferry Terminal. For groceries, a Safeway and Whole Foods were close by (within a 15 minute walk) as well as a couple of convenience and liquor stores within an even shorter distance.
In summary the house was everything as advertised. Sharon was great from start to finish – we could not have asked for a better host. She even helped us get a parking pass for the week. We would not hesitate to rent this house again next time we are in San Francisco – perhaps even next year!"

"This is a great house that made us feel like we were visiting the real San Francisco. Four business associates stayed while in town for a show at Moscone Center. The location is convenient to transportation and walking for eating. I wish we had another week in town to explore the area. I must also say that literally the first person we saw walking down the street when we pulled up was naked. So be prepared for a real SF experience and just go with the flow.
The house was large and well appointed. Everything we needed was there and Elizabeth & Anthony made us feel very welcome to stay and care for it as if we were at home. There is much evidence of family & family activities around the house and a lot of the kids artwork on the walls. If you expect sterile and clean with no evidence of anyone else having been there then this place is not ideal for you, but if warm and homey are good with you, then settle on in.
The fact that it has a garage made renting a car easy. The garage is a bit difficult to get in and out of and will probably take the effort of two people (a guide) until you are used to it, but it is a plus. I see someone else commented also, the issue is the incline makes visibility difficult and the pedestrians, traffic, parked cars and a nice tree in a bad place make it hard to manage without experience.
Bottom line is I would go stay again without hesitation and I think that is the best recommendation I could give."

"I was re reading the previous reviews and have to shake my head at those who complained about the noise. This is a city and with a city can come every city noise imaginable from street noise to neighbor noise. If you do not want to stay in a city, then go to the Suburbs. I was so excited to be staying is such a beautiful home especially since I am currently renovating a 1930s home. I was studying all the little details about this house and hope to find some similar items for my house. This may be a little detail that others may not notice but is something that is unique - your towels and sheets are amazing! Where did you get them? I couldn't figure out the brand names. The beds were sooo comfortable. I know it sounds weird to rave about such things but I have stayed in many vacation rentals around the world and never has an owner cared about those things so I just wanted to point them out.
I do have a couple of suggestions:
1. You should create a "information" binder that gives your guest information about the house. I have seen other vacation rental owners do this and it is very helpful and may help eliminate some of the complaints that people have. Such as where to find the toilet paper (I figured you would have some so I just looked in the most obvious place and easily found them) Also how to work the TV, stove, laundry, fireplace. Even though you may think these things are obvious, it doesn't hurt to provide the info.
2. You do need an internet "booster" to help get internet in the back of the house. The signal is very strong up until you get to the 2nd bedroom but then you cant get it in the kitchen or dining room. I don't know what the technical name is for them other than booster but I have them all over my house in Bermuda because our walls are made of concrete so the signal needs a boost. It is something you can easily plug into the wall in the dining room.
We absolutely loved being here. The neighborhood is perfect and we will definitely be back again."

"I organized a trip for 9 people to SF and rented this unit and the unit above. The location was perfect - Castro area - close to Muni, restaurants, bars, etc. The units were both very spacious and the bedrooms are on either end allowing more privacy. Decor was classic SF style but could use some updating. My only concern with the experience was the response from the owner/property manager. A few days prior arrival to SF, I called and emailed the owner. Voicemail was full and no response from email. If we had had a problem getting in the unit, i wonder what we would have done. After departure I emailed then called the owner to let her know we were gone and ask about the deposit return. Voicemail still full and no response on email. I finally called VRBO to submit a request/complaint and the deposit was refunded within a few days. I understand owners (I've had a property listed on VRBO) have lots of inquiries from non-renters and renters, and may not have alot of time to respond. But I spent a fair amount of $ on these properties and no response close to arrival or after departure can tend make me a bit anxious."
