  • It was a treat for all!

"We had 9 in our group visiting San Francisco to celebrate our son's wedding. Most of our group consisted of seniors 65-70 yrs. old. It was perfect. Those who didn't want to bother with the stairs stayed on the top floor and used the elevator. Others used the stairs. Beds were comfortable. The house enabled all to spread out and achieve privacy if need be. We were entertained notably by the views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. But we also enjoyed just sitting and watching people and their techniques for tackling the hills, and boat and automobile traffic. We were from different parts of the U.S. Never completely getting on west coast time, we awoke to a beautifully lit, quiet city and enjoyed the sun start to light the GGB. Sunsets were glorious. Make sure you look behind the house to watch the windows of the skyscrapers look as though they are on fire. It was great fun to observe SF after dark. The Palace of Fine Arts is beautiful. One evening there even was a drone flying about! At least we were pretty sure that's what it was. Hardly had the TV on. The house is vast and comfortable enabling everyone to catch up with their news. It couldn't have worked out better! We only had a problem with the internet and the owners/managers were quick to help us out. For groceries, Safeway is down in the Marina District. Not far but you will need to drive. However, for last minute items we walked to Green Street Market. If you need a place to accommodate a large group I don't think you can do better. Everyone went home with fond memories."

  • The Hydeout

"If you want the true San Francisco experience, you won't do better than the Hydeout. The Hyde St. Cable car runs right out front and the constant rhythm of the cables running under the road can actually be soothing. The wharf area is just 2 blocks down the hill which you will find much easier than going up the hill. Bike rental is also close by and the city is quite bike friendly with many dedicated lanes. The apartment is spacious and comfortable. One thing we noticed was that the wi-fi service would stop working after midnight so not sure if that is by design or not. Also there is no TV in the bedroom which we would have preferred as our daughters were staying in the front room. Highly recommend."

  • Amazing location

"My wife and I traveled to SF for our son's weekend birthday celebration and fell in love with the Filbert Steps unit. We have been to SF many times and have stayed at some of the best hotels in downtown SF but, this unit and Patrick has convince us to reevaluate our options when staying in SF. The location is the best place in SF to start each day since it is convenient to anywhere in SF and a short walk to all the wonderful restaurants in North Beach. The views are incredible and Patrick is a wealth of information on the history of the entire area. Whenever we plan our next trip to SF it is this unit we will book, even though our son has a beautiful condo for us to stay with him, we still prefer the privacy of this Filbert Steps unit. Thank you Patrick, our stay was amazing."

  • Excellent Stay!!!

"My wife had a great time in this property. The unit is very clean and modern. The owner has obviously put a lot of work and effort into improving this unit and it clearly shows, from the motorized awning, to the double action blinds that allow admiring the panoramic view while ensuring privacy. As we are tea drinkers, we especially appreciated the electric kettle, a feature not commonly found in VRBO properties. Street parking is as advertised, we had a rental car, but used Uber to go downtown ($10 to $12). We look forward to returning in the future."
